Days later, Luca wondered who Ghost was and what he had to do with his dad, uncles, and aunts. It was clear it was tied to them, and he was only targeting them. Well, he hoped that he was, and they were caught in the middle. He wanted to know who they were up against, but Axel wasn't talking. Thinking about it pissed him off, and to make it worse, his parents and the others walked about as if they were mad at the world because of their stupid mistake and to think Kiefer would talk since he lost his wife.
Yet he was wrong.
Like the others, he was tight-lipped as they were. He couldn't understand why they were keeping this a secret when this Ghost knew Axel was alive, and Luca was sure the six they caught weren't the only ones there that night. He was building an army to take out his dad and the others. He wasn't crazy; this was revenge. Hopefully, Beth could tell them how many were there that night, and that's what his wife was working on.
On the other hand, Luca let out a loud sigh, rubbing his temples, wishing one of them would talk or let down their guard. He understood they were trying to protect them, but they were the ones who needed it, or they were going to get all of them killed. It was a loss caused that much he knew. Therefore, he had to find a way around them, but it wouldn't be today.
Today, they had his aunt's funeral, which they all just returned from. Axel and Otis were acting like sticks were stuck up their asses as the others ignored them. Luca needed a minute while his wife was out, but a soft knock on his door caused him to sigh and yell come in. Bridget was on the other end, and he definitely didn't feel like talking. However, she stood there waiting for him to speak which made him close his eyes and wave her in.
Luca's eyes found her belly, and he hated it every time he saw her face or stomach. Although, she wasn't to blame since his dad allowed it, knowing what could have happened. Still, he hated seeing the hurt in his mother's eyes each time she saw Bridget. She was hurt and happy at the same time, and Luca understood.
"What do you want Bridget?" She stayed quiet as she took the seat in front of his desk, rubbing her hand down her belly. She looked nervous as he waited for her to speak. "I don't have time for this shit, Bridget. What do you want?"
"Your Father to love me." Luca laughed. She couldn't possibly believe he would help her with that. Axel was in love with Obioma, and no matter what she did, she would never win his love.
"That I cannot help you with. My Dad is in love with another, and you need to accept it and move on. Look, Bri, I can see you care for him, but you also need to understand he and my mother have loved each other for a long time. You chose the wrong person to love, and you have to accept it. You will never see a ring on your finger even if you love him until your last day on this earth—"
"When it was just him and me, I swore something was there. I felt it, and I think he did, too."
"What you felt was lust, and it gets the best of us. What I suggest is you focus on my baby sister and move on. There are a lot of men around here who would love to have you as their better half." She sighed as Luca walked over to the woman kneeling in front of her. He didn't understand his actions, but it looked like she needed a hug as she quickly wrapped her arms around him.
