When You Walked Out
When you walked out & slammed the door
You told me to stay, not to talk anymore
I thought I was strong, 'til that moment in time
When I found that your words were so very unkind
You told me I'd never be what you want
But, how can that be so when you don't know what I've got?
I can offer so much more to you
More than you'd ever ask me to
You don't know my heart or how vast it is
What it sounds like or how I love to give
You'll never know what it feels like
To put me to bed & to kiss me goodnight
You shut yourself down & I do not know why
You predicted me out of your future so bright
There's a light within us we each contain
I am a jack o'lantern & you are my flame
I'll obey your wishes, I'll stay just a friend
But, don't you dare come crying to me when
You find no one's love who matches mine
& you want to invite the clock to unwind
It's too late now, what's done is done
I'll remain as your sister, I'll play my part
& if in time you find things do change
I can't promise you that on my knees I'll wait
What prayers can't sustain
Good vibes can't smooth over
I'll suffer through alone
As I grow older & older
I won't cry
I won't beg
It'll hurt but
I won't fight
I'll just go on pretending everything is alright
Two Halves = Complete
Are you really in love if it's only felt by you?
Maybe it's just addiction if it isn't felt by two
Can you have a head-on collision
on a one-way street?
Without two halves together
a heart can't be complete
It takes two to make a pair
But, the feelings must be shared

PoesíaA collection of my poetry over the last 15 years or so. I am more proud of some works than others, however, all of it is a part of who I am. Organized into categories rather than chronologically.
