CHAPTER 19

Jason walked into the lobby to meet Alyssa to warn her. "Cancel all of my appointments today, Melissa." He said walking by at first, but then looked up to see her crying. He paused knowing he would regret asking her what was wrong. "Why are you crying?"

"I made so many mistakes, Jason. I lost Diamond and now you for that man, and he..." Jason grew even more pissed. "What did Dan do?"

"I told him." She stood with more tears falling from her eyes. "He made me, Jason, please don't hate me." Jason winced back knowing exactly what Melissa had done. He hit the door running for his car as fast as he could. He had to find her before Dan no matter what. It was close to her lunchtime so he called her first while he drove to her job. "Jason? I got your message are you ok?" Jason was relieved she answered this time.

"I need to see you. I'm on my way to your job, don't talk to anyone else, ok?"

"What do you mean, Jason? You're scaring me." He sighed. "It's a lot to explain. I will be there in a few." He hung up before she could ask any more questions. He sped through the streets hoping to get to her before Dan. Once he arrived, he looked for her car and parked his right in front.

She got out of the car and greeted him with a hug, wrapping her arms around his neck as he pulled her up off the ground, holding her close. "Get in. I need to talk to you in private." She nodded and got into his car in a panic. "Tell me what's going on Jason. I'm afraid." Jason pulled over into a parking spot. "Abagail is missing and the police are after me." Alyssa grimaced at the information. "Oh my god they think you did it?" Jason nodded.

"They came by the building today asking me questions. A Detective Fairchild was her name. I didn't give them your name, but they will find out about you eventually if they can't find her, or worse." Alyssa knew from all the forensic TV shows she watched at home how everything worked. "When did she go missing?"

"Saturday night after the fashion show."

"Then you didn't do anything, you were with me." Jason leaned over and kissed her before he gave her the worst news. "I know you can handle the police, but I wanted to talk to you first before they found you and tried to twist the story." She kissed him back passionately, truly worried and missing him.

"That's not it I'm afraid." He pulled back, placing his forehead on hers. "Dan has found out your name. I don't know what he plans on doing, but I promise I won't let him touch you." Fear struck through Alyssa's eyes then once Dan's name was mentioned. From what she heard he was worse than the anything she had faced, even the police. "What, so soon?" she had hoped to have more time with Jason before his bastard father tried to stop them. "How did he..?"

Jason sighed as he answered. "Melissa." Alyssa became pissed. "That bitch, really? She has got to go Jason before I..." he grabbed her hand. "I will handle it okay. I just wanted to warn you to be careful. I couldn't bear it if something happened to you. Abagail's sudden disappearance troubles me more than I'd like it to. Please be careful and call me once you get home." He wanted to ask her to stay with him, but he knew his father came and went in the building as he pleased. She could never be safe there.

"Will you come by after I get off? We need to talk about this some more." He kissed her one last time before she got out the car to go back to work. For the first time in Jason's life, he was utterly afraid, but not for himself, for Alyssa.

Once she got home she texted Jason immediately. He responded he would be on the way as soon as possible. She sighed, relieved and anxious. Again, shit with Jason was super complicated. Once they became closer she knew all this drama would only hurt them being together in the end, but still, she wanted to try. She admitted she was falling for the man. Sadly her heart was on her sleeve while her mind was screaming at her to run. The shit was just too much for her reclusive world, but she wanted Jason.

Something within him needed her, reached out to grab ahold of her and never let go. She wasn't sure if she wanted to let go. The war inside her head was racing. All she wanted to do was see Jason and sort everything out. The doorbell rang and she panicked opening the door too fast. It wasn't her gorgeous man she was falling for. It was an older version of him. The scarier version of Jason with the evilest look in his eyes. It was Dan Sanders.
