CHAPTER 42

"The motherfucker was at her home trying to leave Abagail's necklace on her doorstep. We need to catch whoever the fuck is doing this." Jason said with urgency. Detective Fairchild asked for the bag with the necklace as she looked inside it with some tweezers, pulling the necklace out. "You sure this is Abagail's necklace?"

"Yes, I gave it to her myself. It was a gift for her investing in the company." Dan explained as Jason turned to him in shock as always by something new Dan has done. "It looks like traces of blood on here. I will get this to forensics immediately. In the meantime try to lay as low as possible. Alyssa, I will need your statement about the night of the Fashion show." Jason took a defensive step, but Detective Fairchild held her hands up. "It's procedure. Do you have somewhere to stay for the night? We need to search your apartment for any other clue the killer may have left."

Alyssa wanted to object, but she didn't feel comfortable going home alone anyway. "The safest place for me would be here." She realized, not wanting to involve her family as she felt now the only person she could depend on was Jason, which irked her. With an attitude, she walked into the living room with Detective Fairchild following. "So now what?" Janet asked the three men left in the kitchen with her. "I need to talk to Frank," Jason replied, grabbing his cell phone.

Jason waited, a little nervous while Alyssa and Janet went with a police escort to Alyssa's apartment. He sat at the bar waiting for Frank as he poured himself a glass of wine. "Jason?" Frank walked up with curiosity. "What's with all the police outside?" Jason turned to him at the bar on the lobby floor. "Protection, another murder happened." Frank grabbed his seat next to him with a pause. "Damn, Jason. Is that why you have that fashion bracelet on your leg." Jason looked down thinking he hid it, but nothing got past Frank.

"House arrest until I can get the case thrown out or until they can prove I'm not the killer of course." Frank nodded as Jason poured him a drink. "Are they close to finding the killer? I mean do they have evidence you did it?" Jason smirked. "A little anxious aren't you Frank?" Frank shrugged. "Just wondering. I mean I don't want you to go down for this. I know you are a good guy Jason. It's a shame really. All of this happens to a guy like you."

Jason took a shot of his drink. "I asked you once do you believe in karma. Maybe this is what I deserve for destroying families and relationships." He laughed softly as Frank took a sip. "You know Jason, as your friend I advise you get yourself some counseling. Shit has been going crazy with your dad and everything with the company." Jason sighed. "Maybe." He said as he took a shot of his drink. Frank grabbed another bottle of wine and refilled Jason's glass. "The way this shit looks, you could use something a little stronger for your troubles."

"So enough about me, Frank. How are the kids and the wife?" Frank took a shot of his drink. "They're good." He replied simply. Jason hesitated to speak again but had to get it out. "Is your wife driving you around Frank?" Frank seemed confused by the question. "I see the truck here a lot after hours." Frank's eyebrows began to narrow with suspicion. "I leave it here because my wife picks me up. Is there a problem now that I leave it?" His posture became aggravated and defensive. "No, I was only worried if something..."

Frank stood up then. "You think I was here when those women were murdered?" Jason looked confused then as Frank caught on to him so quickly. "I didn't say that." He replied defensively. "I have been loyal to you all these years Jason, and now all of a sudden you think me a murderer?" His voice continued, but Jason's head began to become a little dizzy. "No Frank it's not like that. I just need..." he held his head as it began to pound unrighteously.

"This is fucked up Jason. I see a lot of things around here, but I keep my mouth shut about all the cover ups and the infidelity and this is how you come to me, asking about my fucking car." His voice became louder as Jason began to sway back and forth on the barstool. "Jason?" He looked over to see Melissa walk up. Frank stopped yelling to turn to her as well. "Melissa, what are you doing here?" Jason asked, words slurred. "Did you invite her?" Frank asked still pissed and offended.

Jason tried to shake his head, not understanding what was happening. "No." His words slurred as he tried to speak. "How much did he drink?" She asked Frank as she grabbed his face to look into his eyes. Frank shrugged. "I'm not sure he was drinking when I got here." Melissa slapped Jason softly. "Jason, look at me." He tried but his eyes couldn't stay open. "Jason stay with me." Was the last thing he heard before everything went dark.

Jason's head began to pound, but he was slowly coming back to reality as he struggled to open his eyes. He groaned as he fought to sit up. "Jason?" He heard a voice, but couldn't make out who was speaking. "Alyssa?" That's who he wanted it to be. "Not me, but close enough." His face contorted as he struggled to move from the bed. He tried to move his arms, but they were tied down. "Don't move or you will spoil it." Jason clenched his teeth using all his strength to pull free.

"Melissa, what the fuck?" He stared down at his body half naked and Melissa kissing his chest, preparing to take his pants off. "You said you wanted me, Jason." She replied, mounting on top of him. "I would never have sex with you again Melissa. What the fuck did you put in my drink?" Melissa smirked. "I didn't do anything, but you brought me into this room and told me to tie you up."

"Bullshit! Untie me now or I will..." She tilted her head to the side. "What? Call the cops outside and tell them that the sex doctor doesn't want to have sex?" Jason struggled to break free again his eyes twitched with anger. "You said you loved me Jason, but then..." She leaned down kissing his abs. "You called Alyssa!" She ripped his pants open with anger. "That fucking bitch!"

"You are having my father's baby Melissa. Do you hear how crazy that sounds?" Jason tried to reason with her, but she was so far gone in her craziness. "I only did it to make you notice. He told me you would love me for it. He told me you would be happy to have a brother or sister." She kept speaking without saying who he was. Jason assumed she was referring to Dan. "Melissa we can never be together so just stop this. You and Dan can live a happy life and be a happy family..."

"NO!" she screamed. "I love you, Jason. I just wanted to be close to you." She leaned over him again to take over his lips. He cringed not wanting to feel anything from this woman. "Jason!" His heart began to pound wildly as new sparks of hope ignited. "Janet?"
