CHAPTER 52

Jason and Alyssa walked hand and hand into the hospital to see Valerie. He knocked on the door and slowly opened it as Yolanda's voice came from the other side. "Oh my god Jason." Yolanda ran up to him and hugged him and Alyssa. "Janet told us what happened. Thank god you both are safe." She said, revealing Valerie in the bed. Jason's heart dropped seeing his friend in the bed. "I'm sorry this happened to her. How is she?" He asked as they walked fully into the room. "She is stable. She will survive. My Val is strong." Yolanda replied sitting next to Valerie grabbing her wrist.

"That's good. I would hate to see Jason lose one of you. He has told me you both have been his only true friends." Alyssa said, squeezing his hand. He replied with a small squeeze. Yolanda laughed softly. "We are so happy Jason has found you, Alyssa. We've never seen him so happy." Jason released Alyssa's hand to walk over to Valerie's bedside. "How have the guards been outside? They stay twenty-four seven right?" Yolanda nodded. "Two stay all night and day as you requested. They brought us the flowers you sent as well." Jason walked over to the flowers inspecting them suspiciously. "I never sent flowers."

Alyssa stood looking around as if Frank was in the room, still spooked and afraid. The note on the card had Jason's name on it and a date. "August 4th?" He whispered to himself. He then looked over at Alyssa. "August 4th is when we met. It's the day you came to me, remember?" She nodded. "Who sent the flowers?" She asked walking over to him. Jason turned the card over to see a number on the back. He knew what he had to do. "Stay here okay." Alyssa grabbed his arms with her eyes pleading him not to go "I will be safe okay, trust me he won't take you away from me again." Jason walked out of the room, turning to the officers at the door.

"Watch this door. Nobody gets in and don't let anyone out if they don't have a badge turn their asses around. I will be right back." The officers nodded a bit confused Jason was giving them orders, but Jason didn't give them time to object as he walked to the nearest office phone that was vacant. He dialed the number, praying what he was doing was the right thing. The phone rang multiple times before the other end picked up with laughter. "How predictable you are Jason." Jason held the phone tighter around his hands, hearing the voiceover box knowing it was Frank playing games.

"Cut the shit, Frank. I know it's you." The laughter then ceased abruptly as Frank changed the voice over off. "So you figured me out?" He said now in his regular voice. "Police tracking this call right now?" Jason laughed. "I thought you knew me by now. You hurt those women and tried to hurt my woman I can't let you live, so I can't keep the police around." Frank laughed then at Jason's reply. "I do know you, Jason. In fact, I knew you would take the bait and call me alone. You are very predictable."

"Then you should know it's over Frank. Just turn yourself in, everyone is out looking for you." Jason wanted him to fold, but he knew better than that. Frank believed he was on a path of righteousness and redemption. "I don't think you are a bad person Frank." He continued. "You just want revenge for the women who cheated on their spouses right? I understand how you feel, but now you are clearly losing it, Frank. Harming Valerie and Yolanda when they aren't even cheating."

Frank scoffed. "I have seen a lot of things, Jason, working in that place with you. The one thing that you must know if you can't trust everyone. Now I hate that Valerie got hurt protecting her wife, but I would ask how Melissa got the invite to the fashion show." Jason's eyes opened as his brain placed two and two together. "Dan gave Melissa the ticket right?" Frank continued as Jason remained quiet. "How did Dan get an invite?" Jason hung up the phone angry at himself for allowing Frank to get under his skin.

He had to be lying, but he had to know for sure. He walked angrily back to the room with Valerie and Yolanda talking. "Jason?" He opened the door trying to hide the anger on his face as Valerie talked to him. "Hey, how are you?" He asked, walking over to her, grabbing her hand. Alyssa walked over to his side with a light nudge noticing his mood change. "You okay?" She knew him better now, already knowing the answer. His eyes read a different emotion than his smile. Jason squeezed Valerie's hand. "I'm fine," Jason replied to her, kissing her forehead. "How are you holding up, Val?"

Valerie tried to sit up, wincing as she did so. "I'm managing. I'm glad you both are okay. I'm so happy nothing happened to you guys." She winced again, causing Yolanda to run to her side. "I love you, Yolanda. I'm so sorry." Valerie cried. Yolanda held her hand, placing it on her cheek. "I love you, Val. Just rest." She looked up at Jason. "It's the meds they have her on." Jason grabbed her wrist and Alyssa's hand. "Can we talk outside?" Yolanda looked worried as she nodded and the three of them walked outside the room around the corner.

"Who was on the phone Jason?" Yolanda asked, worried. "It must've been Frank if you can't talk inside the room." Jason crossed his arms as the angry look never left his face. "Jason, what is going on?" Alyssa asked once she saw the look on his face. "Are you fucking Dan?" The words just blurted out of his mouth with no filter. Alyssa looked shocked, staring back at Yolanda. "No." Yolanda objected quickly. "Why would you think I..."

"Frank told me you gave an invite to the fashion show to Dan and he gave it to Melissa which would explain why she was there." Yolanda held her chest, appalled. "Frank? Are we really listening to what he says? He is a killer and a liar." She said. Alyssa couldn't help but agree. "Jason, she is right. Frank is trying to play on your emotions." Jason shook his head. "Frank has done a lot of things, but is he lying Yolanda?"

"Yes of course. I love Valerie I wouldn't cheat on her." Jason still wasn't convinced. "Then why give him an invite?" Yolanda threw her hand up in the air. "He is the head of this company. I was just being nice." Jason tilted his head with a laugh. "Being nice? You of all people know what Dan is capable of. I don't think it was about being nice. I know you love Valerie, Yolanda. There is no question, but Dan has his ways of getting women he wants if you aren't strong enough." Alyssa shook her head being the mediator. "She says she didn't Jason. Frank is trying to get into your mind. Don't let him." Yolanda began to cry.

"We haven't lied to each other Yolanda. Is that why Frank tried to shoot you?" Jason uncrossed his arms and took a step to her. "Please tell me the truth. It's critical for the case in order to find Frank. I thought maybe he was going after the people I care about most, but you are the next one on the list if it's true." Yolanda remained quiet, just sniffing. "Just tell me!" Jason yelled as she began to nod. "I did." Alyssa shook her head. Dan was fucking everyone at the office damn near and the women were letting him get away with it. Jason ran a hand through his hair aggravated. "Why Yolanda?"

"It just happened. It was only one time. I couldn't resist him...he seduced me. It was like he knew all my desires and wants, similar to you Jason."

"Don't." Jason took another step in her face as the anger boiled over. "I'm nothing like him so don't you dare compare me to that scumbag. I need to get a hold of this information to Fairchild. Just stay with Valerie okay?" Yolanda nodded walking back into the room. "Shit Jason, what the hell is Dan's deal fucking everyone he sees?" Alyssa asked as he stood in disbelief in the hallway. "It's his gift." He laughed as realization kicked in. "Fuck." He grabbed her hand as they began to walk out of the hospital.

"Where we going?" Alyssa jerked away from him as he turned back to her. "I have to go see Dan. In the meantime, I need you to stay close by Janet. She has Officer Williamson with her." Alyssa nodded not wanting to be difficult, but she just wanted to go home and relax, but Jason's penthouse wasn't a bad spot to relax in.
