CHAPTER 41
Alyssa and Janet sat at the kitchen counter eating ice cream together while Jason worked out. "Thank you for the fancy pen by the way for Christmas. I didn't know you were getting me anything." Janet smiled "No problem. Out of all the women my brother has come across I actually like you." Alyssa laughed. "That's a lot of women." Janet laughed then as Jason walked over. "Now that my annoying sister is here to stay, I apologize in advance for her intruding on our personal lives." Janet laughed and awed as he kissed Alyssa in front of her.
"You two are so cute together." She looked over to officer Williamson who sat by the elevators keeping watch. "Got your eye on him?" Jason pinched her cheeks. "I see you." She jerked away. "I mean he is cute, especially in that uniform." She replied. "Well go talk to him, he will be here a lot. Might as well give it a chance." Jason encouraged, but Janet declined.
"Not having to give myself away to every man who pays a thousand dollars. I don't have time to talk to anyone. I'm going to be pretty busy dealing with Dan and Wilson's shit." Janet lamented. "You should at least take a chance, maybe he will be cool with that." Alyssa encouraged her as well, looking over at the police officer. Janet shook her head. "Not you too."
Jason shook his head while laying out a poster board. "Okay, I need both of you to help me. I need to piece these murders together." He began writing on the board as he wrote Abagail and Tracy's name. "The killer has captured them each time I am gone with you, Alyssa. It seems he knows the perfect time to strike and the perfect cover. We know they both have appointments on Mondays right?" Janet nodded. "Abagail was first then Tracy." Jason wrote the times of their appointments. "Tracy told me she was leaving for good after her hour. That's when she was kidnapped afterward I believe. Abagail was kidnapped from the fashion show, not the building."
"Do you remember seeing anything suspicious that night when you went to the show?" Janet asked causing Jason to remember Frank's car still sitting in the parking lot. "The security car was still here." Janet leaned over the table. "You mean Frank was still here when you left?" Jason shrugged. "I'm not sure, but I know I saw the car. So maybe." Janet looked concerned. "You should ask him." Jason frowned. "And tip him off? What if he is the killer Janet? He would know I'm on to him."
"Frank has been with you for years. Do you think he would?"
"I don't know." Jason sighed as he became paranoid. "Anyone is capable of anything. I will talk to him, but I won't give away I know anything. The only people I trust now are at this table." They both nodded understanding the severity of the situation and the danger. "No heroics Janet." Janet threw up her hands as she grabbed her spoon filled with ice cream.
"You can't rule out Melissa. She was at the fashion show and Janet heard them say she erased the hard drives which means she had something to do with the cleaning schedule." Alyssa explained. Both her and Janet hated the woman. She was far too sneaky and needy, not to mention the hoe who was sleeping with the father of the man she claimed she loved.
"The bitch had it out for this company all this time. What if her agenda was to ruin the company so you can run into her arms when shit goes south. She's crazy Jason I don't put nothing past her." Janet added on to Alyssa's already valid point. Jason heard both of their concerns and couldn't help but to agree. He didn't trust Melissa either.
The level of trust he had for her faded increasingly once he saw Diamond in the wheelchair. He began writing down motives and suspects. Then he wrote down himself. "Jason?" Alyssa looked up at him shocked he would write himself in. "Whether I like it or not, I'm what connects these two together. I'm the main suspect in this case."
"Well, what about Abagail's husband? Any word from him?" Jason shook his head at Janet's question. "None from what I know. I don't think he did it Jan." Janet gave a solid 'hm' and continued to eat her ice cream. "Well, we know damn sure you didn't," Alyssa commanded with much attitude. Janet smiled. "I like her." Jason leaned over and gave her small kiss. "Okay let's solve this thing."
A couple hours' later Wilson and Dan walked in. "Get out of my way you idiots." The police halted both of them from entering. "Wilson and Dan? What the hell are they up to?" Jason walked over to the officers to let them pass. "Jason, why are these officers not letting us through in here?" Dan asked furiously. "Because I told them not to. You both aren't my favorite people in the world right now and for everything I got going on I don't need..."
Wilson pulled out Abagail's necklace with a napkin careful not to leave fingerprints. Jason glanced at Wilson angry. "Where did you get that?"
"It was left on Alyssa's doorstep by a guy in a hoodie. We think it was the killer." Jason became even angrier at Wilson's answer. Jason's head jerked to Alyssa and Janet who was at the table. "Were you two stalking her?" He walked up aggressively to both of them. Wilson held up his hands, but Dan folded his arms. "We were hoping we could get her to persuade you to leave this place and be free," Dan replied, causing Jason to be annoyed. "Ugh! Stop, both of you trying to constantly run my life. There is a killer out here close and I want to catch whoever it is, I told you. Don't ever go near Alyssa again or I swear I will..."
"It was not to harm her Jason, just talk. Glad we did. We tried to track down the intruder but he got away but left this. Obviously trying to frame you more." Wilson explained. Jason sighed, holding his forehead. "It's not too late son," Dan said, leaning close. "Just stop Dan. Did you guys call Fairchild?" Wilson and Dan nodded. "She should be on her way," Wilson replied. Jason gestured for them to have a seat in the living room.
Alyssa walked up with Jason. "What was that about?" Alyssa saw the look on his face with worry. "Why didn't you tell me Wilson and Dan showed up at your house?" His voice still rasped with anger as he accused her. "It wasn't a good time. I was going to tell you..." He started shaking his head as she reached for him. Even through his anger, he accepted her hand on his chest to comfort him. "I worry about you. You have to tell me if these slick fuckers pull some shit." Alyssa nodded. He sighed as he had to tell her the bad news.
"They found the killer at your apartment with Abagail's necklace." Alyssa took a step back. "What?" Janet then intervened, grabbing Alyssa's shoulders. "Jason this shit is getting too out of hand." Alyssa had to step backward to the stool so she could sit in disbelief. "No one has ever tried to break into my home." She shuddered, with her lips shaking. Her apartment was her safe haven. It was bad enough she lived alone and now she had the killer knowing where she lived who could come in at any time. It was nerve-wracking.
"Alyssa I'm..." Before Jason could continue detective Fairchild walked out of the elevator. Dan and Wilson walked back up with the necklace in the bag. "Jason, how are you holding up?" She asked, then held her hands out to the new people she'd never met. "I'm Detective Fairchild. Are you Alyssa Sampson?" Alyssa nodded, as she shook her hand.
