CHAPTER 35

Dan checked his watch multiple times as the hours ticked by, making angrier. It was Christmas and his kids were supposed to meet him at his house for Christmas dinner. It was his wife's tradition they all eat together on Christmas. His fists clenched as the time passed on. He constantly called Janet and Jason's number over and over for the past two hours. "Jason where the fuck are you? You know dinner was at six. Call me." He hung up the phone, with a slam on the table. He stared at the cooked food on the dining table getting cold. With much anger, he lifted his phone again to call his daughter. "Hey, this is Janet. You know what to do."

"Janet this is your father. Where are you and your brother? Christmas dinner was at six remember? The food is getting cold." He hung up again even more pissed off than before. As he paced the house, he stared at the picture of his wife on the wall. His heart swelled as he touched the picture and anger from the past boiled over. He knew exactly where his kids where. He concluded he was going to them with his gun in his hand, ready to spill the truth.

Jason walked down texting Alyssa with a smile as he prepared himself for the feast Wilson and his maid prepared. "No Alyssa?" Wilson asked, cutting the turkey. "No she is spending time with her family and I will visit her later. I have to give her a gift." Jason flapped an envelope in his face. "What is that?" Wilson asked. "I took Ross's advice and decided to lay low with a little vacation. I got us plane tickets to Jamaica."

"Ooh, Jamaica? I want to come!" Janet exclaimed walking down in her PJs still. "Why aren't you dressed?" Janet shrugged at Wilson's question. "It's Christmas." She replied, nonchalantly. "She always stayed in her pajamas on Christmas. Mother let her." Jason replied, causing Wilson to become silent. "Aw yes, I forgot." He said, setting the plates. "Let's say the grace now so we can eat." He reached for their hands as they sat at the table with their heads bowed. "Lord thank you for the food we are about to eat..."

"Amen!" They all looked up as they saw Dan walk up with his gun, leaning against the wall as he clapped. Wilson hopped up. "Dan, what the fuck are you doing here?" Jason asked, standing up as well. Dan held his gun up to Wilson. "I have been calling for my kids all day. We were supposed to have Christmas dinner remember." Wilson held up his hands. "Dan stop it. You are crazy if you think we will have dinner with you after all the lies you have told us." Janet argued. "Now you want to ruin this dinner with us now?"

Dan scoffed. "I admit I have told lies and even mistreated both you and your brother, but I thought at least..." Dan stood from the wall then. "At least you would have enough respect to honor your mother's tradition."

"We do Dan..." Wilson tried to take a step forward, but Dan held his gun to his head. "Shut the fuck up Wilson. I have had enough of your lies and you playing the hero to MY KIDS." He began to scream. "My fucking kids! Not yours!"

"Ok, Dan let's just talk about this in private."

Dan began to laugh. "You afraid to be out in the open with your lies Wilson?" he asked, steadying the gun. "You are going to sit down and tell my kids why they are cursed."

Jason walked over to Janet to cover her from the madness. "Dan please mom wouldn't want this." He said as calmly as possible. Dan's face was still in a rage, but he talked calmer. "Sit down." He said, calmly pulling up a chair, but no one moved. "I said sit the fuck down!"

Everyone moved then with the kids on the side of the table and Wilson and Dan on the ends. He still held the gun to him. "Now tell them what happened to their mother." Wilson shrugged. "They heard the story, Dan. There's nothing else for them to know." Wilson hesitated. Dan lifted his gun higher. "Wilson I never knew you to be a coward. Are you too afraid my children will see you for who you really are?" Janet turned to Wilson. "What is he talking about Wilson?" She didn't even refer to him as father.

Wilson's eyes pleaded with her to drop it, but Dan continued. "Tell her Wilson." Wilson remained quiet. "What the fuck is going on?" Jason asked, staring at their deadly glares at each other. "I will start then since you are too cowardly to tell them." Wilson stood then outraged. "Dan! Don't do this." Dan's eyes only glanced up as he continued. "I walked in one night when you both were young, no older than one year old. Your mother had just put you both to sleep. I know this because I called her and asked about you both while I was working late. She didn't know I was coming home early..."

"Dan please stop. They don't need to know this." Wilson begged as Jason looked over at him. Jason had already put two and two together, but couldn't believe it. "I saw my best friend's car parked in the driveway. I didn't think anything about it. Wilson always came over to the house so it was no big deal. I walked into the house hearing noises. Moaning sounds no man wants to hear walking into his home." Wilson began to breathe loudly as Dan continued.

"Fuck Dan stop!" He yelled. "I fucked her, is that what you want me to say!? I loved her more than you ever will." Then Dan jumped up. "Did you?" Tears fell from Janet's eyes. "Wilson, are you telling me all this time you and mom were the reason we are cursed?" Wilson went to her instantly. "No. Your dad still fucked the voodoo princess." He reached for her, but Jason grabbed his wrist hard. "Don't fucking touch her." He said low and menacingly, feeling betrayed and used.

"To continue, I walked in on them. They never heard me enter the room. I stood there for maybe three minutes before I lost it. She put me out." Dan scoffed. "Me. The motherfucker who was working endlessly to pay for the house she was fucking my best friend in. My heart was so broken I went to the nearest bar and I found Bianca. We started seeing each other and Wilson and Cheryl continued to see each other all respectfully. I didn't know what she was doing and she didn't know what I was doing. We stayed together for the sake of you guys."

He jerked his head to his twins. "You didn't know any of this because I didn't want either of you thinking ill of your mother. One day at the beach together, she realized she wanted to stop seeing Wilson and restart our family. She chose to be with me and I with her. I went to tell Bianca and..." Dan paused, thinking of the moment that changed his life forever.

Wilson shook his head. "She wanted me, not you. We were going to run away together!" Wilson blurted with tears coming out of his eyes. Dan held his gun back up to him. "She would never leave her kids behind to be with you so tell me the truth! Tell them the truth! You tried to take her for yourself out of jealousy..." Janet hopped up. "You both can't be fucking serious. You're lying!" She wiped her tears as she looked at Wilson. "Dad, tell me he is lying."

"Yeah, 'dad', tell my daughter how you took her mother away from them, driving too fast running a red light causing a car to hit my wife!" Dan began to yell. "I loved her!" Wilson screamed. "I never meant...I never meant..." Jason stood up then walking over to Wilson slowly and robotic as the information tore his soul apart. "Jason...I didn't mean...I love you guys." Jason placed his hand on Wilson's shoulder, making him think he felt sympathy, but then a hard jab to his jaw connected, throwing Wilson on the floor while Jason mounted on top of him.

"Oh my god Jason!" Janet ran over to him, grabbing his arms. "Stop Jason!" she yelled, but Jason didn't stop. "You fucking killed my mother and lied to us this whole time! You act like you raised us, but you are just like him! Fuck you!" Jason jerked himself up, shaking his hands from the blood that stained them. "I love our family gatherings." Dan lifted a glass of wine from the table to drink. "Fuck you too Dan! You don't think we know what you have done? To Melissa! To Diamond! You are fucking scumbags and don't ever contact me again." Jason walked off to his car, leaving Janet.

"Was any of it real?" she asked Wilson. "Did you take us in really because Dan couldn't handle the grief?" Wilson crawled off the floor, reaching for the chair to sit himself in. "That's what he likes to tell you but he went to the courts and they favored he take my kids because I was violent towards him. I tried to kill him for killing my wife. It was pure torture to see my best friend fuck my wife and raise my kids. So you see Janet, you aren't the only one cursed."
Dan placed the glass down, standing up again. "Merry Christmas Janet. I bought you and your brother a gift. Please give it to him." He dropped two necklace boxes on the table and walked out, placing his gun inside his pants. Janet grabbed the boxes from the table and ran out to find Jason, leaving Wilson to himself in his empty house.
