CHAPTER 40
The Sanders building felt all dark and gloomy when Jason entered with the police officers. Apart from him was happy to be back home, but another knew what the building was used for. Nightmares of Abagail being held hostage here on the tenth floor creeped him out. "I will take it from here." Jason looked over as Officer McGee and Officer Williamson walked in with Jason's ankle bracelet. "Officer McGee? They let you go?" Jason asked as he wrapped the bracelet around him. "I talked to my sister and she told me you weren't the asshole I believed you to be. That in fact, you paid for her hospital bills without her dropping the lawsuit, correct?"
"I didn't know she was in the wheelchair," Jason admitted as officer McGee stared him in the eyes. "It's still not over." He replied. "How did you get off from the evidence from Abagail's case?" Jason asked again. "There was new evidence showing she was dragged into a car and it wasn't by me. I'm just on probation, but I volunteered to watch you as well as they watch me." Jason scoffed. "It's really to watch both of us, huh?" Officer McGee nodded in defeat.
Jason hit his shoulder. "Make yourself at home then." He said as he started walking to the elevator. "Call me Michael." Officer McGee said once they were inside with Officer Williamson. Jason entered his penthouse to see Dan and Janet. They both hopped up when they saw him. "Jason what the hell. Can I speak to you in the bedroom?" Dan grabbed his son's shoulders dragging him into his room. "House arrest Jason?" Dan held his head. "What the fuck?"
"Didn't Wilson and Ross see you at the airport?" Janet asked, worried. "Yes. I chose this myself. I need to catch this fucker who is killing the clients Dan. You should understand of all people. If we don't there won't be any company." Dan shook his head. "Not this way Jason. The police won't give a damn if you are innocent. This will never be over Jason." Jason sighed. "I have to try."
Janet grabbed Jason's hand. "Jason I hate to say this, but if you are going to do this I'm staying too." Dan's eyes went wide. "What the fuck Janet?" They both said in unison. "I don't want you facing this alone Jason. It's already been hard enough. I'm not leaving you." Jason sighed. "Janet you know it's not safe here with me. The killer is after the clients. I can't risk you." Jason replied sitting on the bed. Janet folded her arms. "I'm not leaving you. I'm not one of your clients Jason."
"But you are now the new sex doctor which could tip the killer off," Dan spoke with logic while Janet was just being stubborn. "I am staying here. So get used to it. I'm safer with the police around right?" She walked off into the living room, staring at Officers Williamson as he stared at her. She thought nothing of it as she walked to the kitchen. Dan placed his hands on his forehead stressed. "You better protect your sister." He demanded to Jason. "Call me son if you need anything." Jason nodded as he left the room. "I will get you out of this."
Jason sighed as he laid out on the bed thinking of everything that happened in the last few days. All of the conversations he had with everyone. How everything started with his life in shambles. Then the sunshine of his life had happened when all hope seemed to be lost. He instantly picked up his phone and called Alyssa. "Jason, what happened are you ok?" Her worry warmed him. "I'm currently on house arrest. Can you come over when you get time? I need to see you."
His world seemed normal and right when she was in his presence. "Plus some police officers will be watching you at your house. The killer is going down the list of my clients. I told the Detective you were after Tracy that day. I just want you safe whether it's with me or not." He informed her. "I will come over soon. I love you. You need to be careful yourself." She replied lovingly. "I love you too." He hung up with a sigh.
Alyssa walked out of her home looking around as normal to see the black car that was at the airport. She cursed and with much haste walked to her car. "Alyssa!" Wilson yelled out to her. "Please wait. I'm not here to hurt you." Wilson yelled out. "I need you to talk some sense into Jason. Right now you are the only person he will listen to." Alyssa turned angry. "Because everyone in his life has betrayed him, that's why."
"Please. Jason doesn't need to go to jail for a crime you and I both know he didn't commit. I only want to get him out of harm's way, that's all." Alyssa wasn't as fearful of him as she was of Dan. He seemed he only had Jason's best interest at heart, but she couldn't trust him after the lies he told and the emotional and mental harm he did to Jason. "Look I know you love him and I see that he loves you as well. I just need you to try and talk some sense into him for me please." She nodded and got into her car.
As she drove away, Dan pulled up to Wilson. "No luck with the woman?" Wilson shook his head. "She is possibly more stubborn than him." Dan cursed. "We have to get Jason out of this. I can't wait to find the fucker who is setting him up and kill the bastard." Wilson turned to Dan. "You sure it wasn't your whore Melissa? For what I hear she would do anything to get Jason back." Dan chuckled. "If you're accusing me of something Wilson, just say it."
"Alright. I think she killed Abagail and Tracy out of jealousy and you as always cover for her for whatever reason just like you did with Diamond." Dan shook his head. "It's not like that. I would kill her myself if I thought she was a threat to the company." Wilson's eyebrows rose. "And she's not? She's already cost us a lawsuit, Dan. What more harm will you let her accomplish before you do something about it?" Dan scoffed. "And you cost me my wife so I guess that would make us even then." He patted his shoulders and got back into the car.
Wilson stood outside the apartment building for a moment. He looked up to see a man at Alyssa's door. He took off running up thinking it to be the killer. "Wilson!" Dan screamed, running after him as he mastered the steps, skipping two at a time. "Hey stop!" The man took off running covered in a hoodie with gloves on. "Shit!" Wilson yelled as the intruder got away. "Who was that?" Dan asked once he got up the stairs. "I'm not sure." Wilson sighed. He looked down and discovered the intruder dropped something.
Wilson covered his mouth as Dan leaned in to see what he was looking at. "It's Abagail's necklace." He cursed as he got up. "That had to be the killer trying to frame Jason by leaving the necklace here with Alyssa to make it seem like his alibi isn't legit. Who the fuck is this guy?" Dan sighed wiping his forehead. "I'm going to go check the perimeter. Call Fairchild." Dan said, running the opposite direction to try and find the intruder. Wilson got on the phone immediately to call Fairchild.
