Emilia grit her teeth. "Damn she almost had him!" Emilia had lured him with a treat, but then he decided that making her chase after him was more worthwhile than a bone.
So there she was, still scrambling to keep up a good general distance between the two. She almost had lost him at the stoplight. Cross walking anyone?
Scott was now starting to head towards the more wealthy part of town, the upper class citizens. Personally Emilia had never been to the neighborhood often as there was no need, hence why when she ran past the houses she had to gape.
The suburban mansions were flawless in infrastructure, the pillars soaring to the height of skyscrapers. Sparkling squeaky clean windows reflected off the water of their personal pools. Each turn she made, the greenery was always vibrant and throbbing with life and color. Blossoming flowers of striking blood reds, whites, magenta's, and navy blues making pretty statements on the ground. Emilia had an inkling that the interior of the houses was even more impressive than the exterior.
Her dark orbs flicked across the street, searching for her little troublemaker. She let out a sigh of relief when she spot him sniffing at a red flower in the front of one of the colossal mansions. Emilia sucked in a breath nervously "It's okay Emilia just grab your dog and go. Most likely you won't have to interact with any of the people in the household" She reassured herself briefly, before cautiously starting to make her way over towards her dog.
'Okay just a few more steps and you've practically got him' But just as she was about to reach for her distracted puppy she heard an unfamiliar voice.
"What are you doing?" An amused masculine voice asked
Instantly her dog noticed her, and quickly fled making her once again sigh, but then realization dawned on her as she remembered there was someone behind her and she quickly spun around to face the stranger in shock.
Emilia eyes scanned him up and down, scrutinizing him in analysis. She couldn't deny that the stranger was devastatingly attractive. The teen male had prominent high structured cheekbones, windswept honey blonde hair, and an aristocratic sharp nose. His juicy pink lips were upturned in a easygoing smile as he stared at her, looking to be doing the same thing she was.
His most striking feature however, was definitely his eyes. Beneath arched eyebrows, energetic sea green eyes peered at her curiously in silent wonder. The teen was very tall at the height she estimated was around 6'2.
He donned expensive looking designer sportswear, his pale smooth ivory skin revealing defined muscle equally distributed around his lanky frame.
"You haven't answered my question" The teen said, bringing Emilia out of her inspection of the boy.
Her throat felt dry as she began to speak. "Ummm right. Well my dog Scott ran away from home, and I've been chasing after him for the past two hours. Honestly, I was starting to believe he wouldn't stop, but luckily once he started running into your neighborhood, he got distracted by the scenery, taking a detour at your house and well... here I are" Emilia rambled, anxiously rubbing her shoulders.
The handsome boy had an unreadable expression on his face. Then slowly his lips quirked up into another warm smile.
"Quite a predicament you've gotten yourself into" he paused "I can help if you want" He suggested
Emilia pressed her lips tightly together, hesitant. "It's okay you really don't have to. The little scoundrel is my own personal problem to deal with not yours" She said waving his offer off.
The golden haired boy frowned for a second in displeasure at her answer, and then he almost automatically shifted his irritated frown into a Cheshire Cat grin.
"Perhaps I should rephrase my question little lady" he sang, eyes hardening. "I wasn't asking for your approval of my help. You're getting it whether you like it or not. Is that understood?" His uncompromising tone leaving no room for argument.
But against her better judgement that Emilia shouldn't anger this guy, her mouth was a completely different story.
She snorted "Oh?" Emilia raised a challenging brow "And who do you think you are to disregard my words? I can handle myself fine without your assistance. Thank you very much" She growled out
Although the boy seemed unfazed by her harsh tone instead looking very confused.
"Wait...you don't know who I am?" He asked flabbergasted
God the ego of rich people.
Emilia rolled her eyes in annoyance "No. Am I suppose to?"
The teenager pouted, reflecting a spoiled petulant child in Emilia's opinion.
"So..." she started "Are you going to tell me who you are blondie?"
He stayed silent for a moment. The boy lost in thought, contemplating for whatever reason Emilia didn't know. Then suddenly, as if something important had dawned on him, his facial expression changed into a stoic look as he firmly stated a "No".
Emilia scrunched her eyebrows together in confusion "What? Why not?!" She asked, a deadpan look on her face.
"Because..." He paused briefly as if pondering whether he should be honest.
"Because" he reluctantly continued again "..your the first person who doesn't know my identity. And it's.....nice not being immediately judged because of your reputation" He smiled half heartedly not meeting Emilia's gaze.
"The perks of being a stranger to you is great because you judge me based on personality, not petty rumors" he finished quietly, finally looking up to meet Emilia's stunned brown eyes.
She wasn't expecting him to be so rawly honest to her, a complete stranger no less, but in some way she understood him. Sometimes confiding in a stranger is easier than revealing your issues to loved ones.
An uncomfortable silence overtook them as both appeared to be waiting for the other to speak first.
Emilia finally decided to speak again, absolutely loathing the silence that currently resided between them.
"Fine" she stated
The boy instantly looked confused, by now Emilia was starting to believe this was a common occurrence for him.
She decided to clarify. "You can help me find my dog"
The boy huffed, wanting to argue again that he was going to help her even without her permission. It was the proper gentlemen thing to do, or at least that's what his parents had drilled into his brain as a small child.
But seeing as he didn't want to start another petty argument with the girl, he bit his tongue and smirked.
"So got any doggy treats on you?" He inquired
She smirked back. "Several"
"Well then, I might just have a brilliant plan to capture your dog. Follow me into my house. I have a idea"
And so with that statement, both teens scampered off together into the boy's mansion in a quest to find the girl's lost dog, neither one predicting what their first encounter with each other would bring.
