Seoyoung's POV
I should've known. The venue was grand, but I should've seen this coming. The after-party was wild. I mean, not only was the decor insane, but it seemed that the three men (Taehyung, Jungkook and Jimin) had completely lost their minds. I totally saw Jungkook as a party animal, but I could not see someone as stiff and serious as Taehyung and Jimin letting loose. They were in a group in the middle of the dance floor with five of their other friends, laughing, dancing and drinking. I recognized them as the five sitting in the front row in the venue. I was sitting alone at a table, sipping slowly on a martini until one of the men finally broke free from their circle and awkwardly shimmied over to me. I laughed at his silliness as he collapsed into a chair beside me.
"I had never been a dancer, or a drinker to be honest," Namjoon said as he loosened his tie and tossed his sweaty hair back.
"Mmm, I'd say you're a splendid dancer," I joke, thinking of the awkward dance he had earlier presented, resembling a piece of seaweed. A comfortable silence fell over us as we watched them party.
"So, you and Taehyung huh?" he said.
"Yep, the happy couple," I say, taking a deeper gulp from my glass.
"Hmm, was it a deal?"
"Yeah..." I said, already knowing Namjoon was aware of the whole 'I'm a gang lord' Taehyung.
"Mmm, why?" I shrugged.
"To save a friend," I answer. Namjoon hums, deep in thought.
"Interesting... Basement?"
"Basement," I confirmed. He pats my back in reassurance.
"You'll do just fine. You're different, stronger than most women I've met," he praises. I raise my eyebrow.
"You must meet quite the selective few women," I tease. He pretended to look offended.
"I daresay, I am a total womanizer." I laugh and shake my head.
"Thanks," I say.
"For what?" I shrug and sighed, thinking about the hectic days I had just gotten by.
"I don't know, for just being you I guess." Namjoon smiles and reclines in his chair.
"You know, I would ask you to dance, but I really am awful at it. You'd probably go home with a broken foot." I chuckle and shake my head. Taking a final sip, I stood up and grabbed his hand. "Oh no-"
"Oh yes. You can't be that bad."
"Mmm, I really am-"
"Oh please, I've never met someone who can't do a simple Waltz-"
"Well you've just found the first," a voice said from behind. Namjoon nods his head vigorously, ripping his hand away from me.
"Tae's right you know."
"Right. How about a dance with me instead, Mrs. Kim?" he says slyly. I blush, unaccustomed to the new name, but took his hand nonetheless. Taehyung led me to the middle of the room where a slow, classical song started, stark to the booming pop music that people were just hyping to. He placed his hand on my waist, mine on his shoulder as he interlocked our other hands together. We moved in sync, surprised at how smooth he was on his feet.
"Wow, you're a really good dancer," I remark. Taehyung smiles.
"There are a lot of things you don't know about me," he says.
"Mmm, tell me something new," I ask, eager to hear more about him.
"Well, I'm actually a music producer?" I almost burst out laughing, but manage to hold it in.
"No way, I don't believe you."
"I'm serious. I own Muse-"
"No way! That huge billion-dollar producing company?"
He nods, saying, "The one and only."
"Wow..." Taehyung really was some entrepreneur.
"Namjoon actually works there too." I throw a glance over my shoulder to Namjoon who's chatting to a broad-shouldered man. "He's a producer, songwriter and rap teacher." Woah, Taehyung and his friends were seriously talented. Not only were they able to run some huge gang without a hitch, but they also had huge businesses in the real world. "Anything else you'd like to know?" We continued to dance a bit, me thinking things over in my head. There was just so many things to ask, I didn't know what first.
"Why'd you decide to start a gang?" Taehyung didn't seem to expect this but answered anyway.
"I didn't. My father was the original founder, and I had been born into this. Not knowing how to live innocent, I naturally inherited it when he passed away. I had done terrible, abhorrent things at such a young age, it was normal to me. There was no way I'd survive in a world that does not condone the things I regularly do. It was only when I became the leader that I realized, change is possible."
"So you built Muse, to try and experience normal?"
Taehyung thinks for a bit before answering, "I guess. I also had a love for music and friends who did too. We kind of just flowed into it after we started making music together."
"You... sing?" Taehyung smiles and nods.
"And dance. Jimin too."
"Really?!" Amused with my reaction, Taehyung chuckles and pulls me into his arms, letting me dance in his embrace.
"You know, Seoyoung, I really do care for you," he whispered. I smiled and loosely let my arms sit around his neck.
"I know."
We dance in silence for a few moments before I said, "Sing for me." Seemingly taken aback, Taehyung hums in question. "Sing for me, Tae."
"Okay," Then, his beautiful voice filled my ears as he sang. "Perhaps the reason this night looks so beautiful is not because of these stars lights, but us. You got me, I dream while looking at you. I got you, inside those pitch-black nights. The lights that we saw in each other were saying the same things..." We swayed as I listened to his voice, to his song. "Oh let us light up the night. We shine just the way we are, tonight." And just like that, I felt like I was flying, among the stars, lighting up the night, in Taehyung's arms.
