I arrived at the college campus faster than one should. Apparently, Daniel's bodyguard doesn't worry about speed limits when you say it's urgent. Thankfully, I was no longer stuck with Bernard, but his replacement was just as uptight. Once we reached the campus I almost rolled out of the moving car if it weren't for the bodyguard who stopped me. Then again, it is his job to keep others safe.
"Come find me if I take more than twenty minutes. I'll be in dorm room S21." The bodyguard remained a statue, he didn't even nod, but I knew he understood.
As I raced down the quad I hoped that I would be able to catch up to Sandra before she met up with Paola and as if luck was by my side I saw her walking into the building with Barb.
Though I hadn't worked out in a while I sprinted towards them as fast as I could and shouted her name. She heard me instantly and stopped walking as she turned to me. Her expression wasn't the usual happy one, but I ignored it, happy she was safe and sound.
"Pete, what are you doing here? I just left you at the hospital with Benny." Before I explained I took her hand and pulled her out of the building. People watched us with curiosity and with just a glare they looked away.
"You can't go in there alone. What if what Benny said is true." Sandra signed and turned to Barb, I could tell she didn't want to talk about it in front of others. Since Barb was reluctant to leave us, Sandra spoke.
"I have to talk to her to know for sure. I can't just suspect her, she's my best friend. Without her, I would've never made it out of Westlake. There has to be a mistake in his memory."
"What's going on? What did Benny say about Paola?" Barb crossed her arms and watched us carefully as if preparing to detect any lies.
"He thinks Paola was there when he got attacked. He's saying she was in on it." Barb's expression changed from serious to shocked.
"W-What? Is that why she's been asking me about his condition?" Barb scrunched her nose and parted her lips feeling betrayed. Asking for his condition was mean she wanted to know when he would if ever, talk.
