Chapter 7

  "Whoa!" That was the reaction when I brought my friends to the base. Everyone except Eve and Tess, 'cause they'd been there before, gasped.

  The base is the basement and also my sanction. It was converted into my room last year and has all my musical equipment in it as well.

  You're probably thinking, what? How can she fit in all that stuff?

  Well the basement is basically a house but only on one floor, a bungalow in a sense. I have my own music room/recording booth, a mini kitchen, a mini bathroom and my main bedroom.

  "Wow this is... quite something." Brendon said looking around.

  "How could you afford all this?" Derrick asked, "Not that I think you're poor or anything it's just that all this is, like, so expensive! I mean seriously you have a whole drum kit, three guitars, a bass, four amps, two mics, two mic stands and recording stuff!" 

  "Kody's dad is a lawyer." Tess told him.

  "He is a great one too. He wins almost every case he works on." Eve supplied.

  "What do you mean, "almost every case"?" Zac asked.

  I cringed. Then shivered as the memory came back hammering at my head, shouting at me to let it consume me.

  No! I gritted my teeth, Bug off! You are a memory and you don't matter anymore! I shouted at myself.

  "Eh... nothing." Eve said quickly but it was too late.

  "Eve it's ok." I smiled at my friend.

  Bang!

  "I didn't do anything."

  We all turned to see Derrick at my recording booth.

  "Why did you flick that switch?" Tess shouted.

  "I didn't mean to." Derrick said quietly.

  "It's ok." I said for the second time in like three seconds.

  "So what do you mean?" Brendon asked us.

  "A couple years back my dad lost a case and unfortunately his client was completely p-ed off so naturally he came back for revenge on my dad." I sighed, rubbing my hands down my face.

  "You don't have to tell us." Zac said putting a hand on my shoulder.

  "No you'll find out eventually." I sighed, "He broke into our house looking for my dad. Luckily for my dad he was out the house, unlike me. I was sitting in the living room and he walked in. Before I knew it I was pinned against the wall with a knife at the back of my neck, my arms twisted at an awful angle behind my back." At this point Tessa's eyes where watering with tears, "I tried to scream but nothing came out and at that point the man said, "Tell your daddy dearest that Jack said hello." and with that he broke my arms and cut deep into my shoulder with the blade of his knife."

  "What happened next?" Derrick asked quietly as if he was scared to.

  "I collapsed. The next thing I remember is waking up in hospital with no memory of the attack."

  "Oh God." Tessa cried.  She never had taken the story well the first time I told her she treated me like I was a bit of broken glass that need to be kept safe.

  "Tess, it's ok I'm fine now." I pointed to myself, "See."

  "Yeah but you still have the scars." Her body wracked with sobs.

  Beep, Beep.

  "Oh no! That just makes everything worse." She checked Zozo even though we knew that she was low, "Eve can you help me?" This is what we were told to watch for. She would ask for help for the most simplest of things.
