I stared at myself in the mirror, in awe of the red and blue spandex spider suit I had crafted. The black spider on my chest further added to the look I was putting off. I couldn't wait to go and swing around New York like this.
"Y/n! It's Will!" William pounded on my bedroom door, "We need to talk."
"Uh, just a second!" I shot back, shuffling around my room like a mad man trying to hide all evidence of my powers.
My door handle jiggled and I thanked the gods I decided to lock it.
"Y/n, come on. Why's the door locked." Will huffed under his breath.
I rushed around, slipping on a pair of dirty sweatpants and the hoodie I wore last night, using them to cover my suit. When I was decent, I unlocked the door, stuffing my hands in my pockets.
"Hey, Will." I cleared my throat, letting him into my room. "What did you want to talk about?"
"You! I want to know why you're avoiding me?" Will huffed.
"I've just been busy." I replied nonchalantly, moving my shoulders up.
"Yeah, I've seen you in the halls with Mary Jane, when were you going to tell me you both were dating?"
I rolled my eyes, "we're not dating."
"Oh so just casually fucking then." Will spat.
I scoffed, "No, Will! Jesus. MJ and I are talking, yes. Does that bother you?"
"It bothers me I'm your best friend and you didn't tell me you were a one woman show now. You start talking to the popular girl and ignore someone you've known since birth!"
"maybe I could of handled things differently." I replied with a shrug.
Will sighed, "I miss my best friend."
A small smile tugged in the corners of my lips, "Yeah, I missed you too."
"Eddies throwing another party. Figured you owe me tonight since you've ignored me for a week."
"Will, I don't owe you shit. I got things to do today so maybe another time." I sighed.
"Seriously?" Will scoffed.
"What?!"
"You're just going to blow me off?"
"Will, I'm not blowing you off-"
"Yes you are! Come on, it's just a party!"
"Yes, it's just a party!" I snapped, "It's the same party we always go to and it's going to be the same next time. I don't like parties anymore, Will. That's not what I want to do with my time anymore. That's your thing, not mine."
Will chuckled bitterly, "What is your thing now, y/n? Huh?"
My mouth shut, jaw setting in frustration. How did this even escalate so quickly. Taking a closer look at my best friend, I noticed how out of it he seemed. He was paler than normal and his eyes were really dilated. He had a jitter to him that let me know he was using again.
"Are you using again?" I asked.
"Yeah, so I've put a few needles in. The normal shit isn't cutting it for me anymore."
"Will, I don't think it's a good idea for you to go to that party tonight. Stay here with me, we can play some video games and eat junk." I tried to coax him.
"Ooh I see what you're trying to do! You're trying to send me back to that rehab place. I'm not going back there, y/n!" Will barked, saliva flying from his mouth.
