"I got this giant worms attention! What's step two!?" Tony yelled in panic through the coms. I snapped another Chitauri gun in half, dropping it down on its deceased owner.
"That thing is doing more damage. We need to take it down and now!" I panted.
"I'm bringing the party to you, kid." Tony said.
I turned towards Nat, helping her get trapped people out of the bus.
"Go." Nat nodded, "I'll be okay."
I nodded, making myself push off the bus and wall run up to the roof of the nearest building. I saw Tony fly by, the giant leviathan tailing him.
"I don't see how thats a party." Nat said through the coms. I snickered. I ran towards the edge of the building, sucking in a breath before leaping off. I landed on the armor plating, hissing when I felt a blast pierce the back of my right shoulder.
I turned to look back at three Chitauri aliens advancing. One of them in the middle has a long, sharp sword with a purple glint to it. He advanced on me first, charging me. I leaned back, watching the sword swing over my body. I stood straight up when it was past me, giving him a right hook. His body flew off the alien but I shot a web at him, bringing him back around and knocking his friends off. I let go of the web when I was done, running towards the front of the leviathan.
"How we doing, kid?" Tony asked.
I grunted trying to pry his armor plating off, "Still trying time find its weak spot."
My eyes widened when I looked up to see we were heading right for an apartment building.
"Wow, destroying the city and didn't think to call?"
"Miles!" I sighed in relief, huffing when the amor wasn't budging. "Help me turn this thing."
Miles nodded, shooting webs at the monsters head. I shot one at his head, then another at the corner of the grunting, yelling in pain as I strained my entire body as we turned the thing.
"I can't pierce the armor." I said, panting at his tired I was.
"Have you tried using their tech?" Miles asked.
I shook my head, looking around for that one sword. I saw it stuck between two plates of armor, shooting a web at it to grab it. I rammed it into the beasts neck, feeling it stop flying as I got closer and closer to the ground. Miles and I glanced at each other, leaping off.
I hissed when his giant tail knocked me back and I crashed down right on top of a taxi.
"I'm going to feel that in the morning." I wheezed, shaking the glass off my body.
"Heads up, we got more worms coming." Tony said into the coms.
I noticed the others standing in the middle of the road, fighting off aliens.
"Thor, what's the story upstairs?" Cap asked.
"It's impenetrable." Thor replied.
"He's right. We're going to have to deal with these guys." Tony sighed.
"How are we going to do this?" Widow asked.
"As a team." Cap said. "Loki is going to keep this fight focused on us and we can use that. We have Stark up top. Spider, need you to cover all ground from top to bottom. The rest of us..."
Caps speech died in his tongue as we all turned around, seeing Banner approach us on a small motorbike.
"Well this all seems horrible." Banner grimaced.
"Ive seen worse." I huffed, referring to his green side.
Banner scratched the back of his neck, looking solely at Natasha as he said, "Sorry."
"We could use a little worse." She cleared her throat.
"Stark? We got Banner." Cap said to Tony over the coms.
"Good. I'm bringing another worm to him."
Tony came flying around the corner, another leviathan on his tail.
"Dr. Banner, now might be a really good time for you to get angry." Cap said, looking between Banner and the leviathan.
"That's my secret, Captain. I'm always angry." Banner turned into the hulk and smashed the leviathan right in the face, skidding back from the force.
All of us looked up as more than a thousand zoomed into our world through the portal.
"Guys.." I said.
"Call it, Cap."
"Until we can close the portal, we're running containment. Barton, I want you on that roof. Watch for patterns and call out strays. Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks you turn it back or you turn it to ash. Thor, try and bottleneck the portal. You have the lightning. Spider, Widow and I, we'll keep the fighting contained down here. And Hulk? Smash!"
Hulk grinned and began wreaking havoc.
[...]
"None of this going to mean a damn thing if we don't close that portal." Natasha sighed, her body swaying lightly due to the exhaustion.
"Our biggest guns couldn't touch it." Cap sighed.
"Maybe it's not about the guns." She said looking up. I snapped an aliens neck, tossing him to the side as I panted.
"You're going to need a ride if you want up there." Steve said.
Nat smirked, walking over to me and wrapping her arms around my neck, "I got a ride."
Steve nodded towards me and I nodded back, taking off through the city.
"Looks like you finally got that swing through the city." I joked, swinging through the air as one of my arms was wrapped around her in precaution.
"This ones a trial. The real one happens later." She smirked as we landed on top of Stark Tower.
THIRD PERSON POV
"Director, the council has made decision." The world council chairman said.
"I recognize the council has made a decision, but given that it's a stupid ass decision, I've elected to ignore it." Nick spat.
"Director, you're closer than any of oursubs, you scramble that jet..."
"That is the island of Manhattan, Councilman. Until I'm certain my team can't hold it, I will not order a nuclear strike against a civilian population." Nick looked at the screen like he was crazy.
"If we don't hold them in the air, we lose everything." The chairman sighed.
Nick shook his head, "if I send that bird out then we already have."
Nick ended the meeting with the council, hearing Agent Hill tell him a bird was in motion. Nick cursed the corrupt council, letting Stark know there was a nuke coming right for them.
