I pulled my mask off, sand spilling everywhere and I groaned, knowing I was going to have to clean my bathroom when this was all done. The steam began fogging up on the mirror and I wiped it away, seeing my bruised and cut up face staring back at me. The cut on my jaw looked better than I thought it did, but was going to leave a disgusting scab.
I stripped off the rest of my suit, letting it pool at my ankles. I stepped in the shower, the hot water instantly soothing my aching muscles. I began scrubbing, watching the sand turn to mud as It slowly went down the drain.
Would Sandman turn to mud too? I thought to myself, rinsing the soap from my skin. He said something about their boss, so I knew there had to be a secret operation running somewhere. They needed money, but for what? Sandman disappeared so maybe he went back for more, or he was alerting his boss.
Either way, I'm sure I'd be seeing him again. I turned the knob off in the shower, watching the water come to a stop as I stepped out, drying off and putting some clothes on.
I slipped the white t shirt over my head, then slipping over a black sweatshirt over that. I shut off the bathroom lights and made my way back into my room, running my fingers through my wet hair. Pulling out my phone, I dialed Wills number, plopping on the edge of my bed.
"Hey it's Will, leave a message or whatever and I'll think about getting back to you."
There was a beep and I sighed, "Hey, Will. Uh, just hope you're doing okay. I'm sorry about what I said but just.. call me back."
I ended the call, tossing my phone on my pillows and letting out a small groan. My mind began to race as I thought about my best friend, hoping he was safe wherever he was.
I got off the bed, reaching in my nightstand to grab my headphones, then climbing out the window and making my way to the roof. I carefully sat down on the ledge, putting the head buds in my ears and hitting shuffle.
The sun was setting beautifully along the skyline as I vibed to the Russ song that was playing.
My music stopped mid song and I huffed, pulling my phone out of my pocket to see Mary Jane wanted to FaceTime. I answered the call, her smiling face popping up and I could tell she was outside too, seeing her hair move in the slight breeze.
"Hey." I rasped.
"Hey." She grinned, "Um, just wanted to tell you in case you didn't know."
I raised an eyebrow in question, "Know what?"
"Wills in jail right now."
"What?!" My mouth dropped open in shock.
"Yeah, my dad arrested him today. They found him on the upper east side trying to break into someone's house, then Will ended up attacking my dads partner."
"Shit." I ran my fingers through my hair. "Uh, thanks for telling me."
"Yeah." MJ hummed before she stayed quiet for a minute. "What happened to your jaw?"
"Oh, uh," my eyes went wide, being caught off guard, "I got into a fight."
"With Will?"
I shook my head, scratching the back of my neck, "No. uh, you know Flash and his gang. You know how it is." I lied.
MJ scoffed in distaste when I said his name, "I never liked that guy."
"He takes some getting used to." I chuckled, tapping my fingers against the rooftop edge.
"Oh! I didn't tell you what my dad said!" MJ geeked.
"What's that?" I smiled.
"My dad said some super hero named Spider-Woman saved his life!"
