"Loki's going to drag this out. Thor, what's his play?" Cap asked as we all sat around the table.
"He has an army called the Chitauri. They aren't from Asgard or any world known. He means to lead them against your people. In exchange for the tesseract I'm sure." Thor explained with a torn look in his eye.
"An army? From outer space?" Cap said seriously, glancing at each one of us.
Thor nodded.
"So he's building another portal. Where?" Banner scratched his chin.
"I want to know why Loki let us take him. He's certainly not leading anything from here." I crossed my arms over my chest.
"I don't think we should be focusing on Loki." Banner glanced at me, "His brain is all jumbled. You can smell crazy in him."
"Watch how you speak, mortal. Loki is behind reason but he is my brother." Thor lightly narrowed his eyes at Banner.
"He killed eighty people in two days." Natasha deadpanned and my eyes went wide.
Thor cleared his throat, "He's adopted."
I zoned out again, hearing Banner and Stark talk their science language, boring me out of my mind. My eyes wandered on Cap instead, watching how his face would contort into utter confusion while he listened. Natasha looked the same way.
"-I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster." Tony patted Banner on the back.
Banner looked down, a grimace on his face, "Thanks."
"Yeah, I'm sure it works well in the romance department too." I mumbled, wincing when Steve kicked me under the table.
I huffed, rubbing my eyes before stretching my limbs over my head.
"Banner is just here to track down the cube. Was hoping you'd help?" Fury asked Stark.
"I want to start with that stick of his. It operates much like a HYDRA weapon." Steve clenched his jaw.
"I don't know about that, but it is powered like the cube." Nick said.
Tony and Banner soon left, talking science the entire way. I excused myself from the table, my body still sore from when I rammed into all those trees. I made my way to my room, taking a shower until the water turned cold, laughing to myself knowing it pissed Fury off.
When I was dry and dressed, I plopped down on the stiff bed, grabbing my phone to call Miles. After a few rings he answered.
"Well hello my Avenger friend!"
"Hey, Miles." I smiled. "How's New York?"
"Quite as a mouse. Even the common crooks seem to be taking a break."
"Lucky." I laughed, "I'm getting smashed into trees by angry gods."
"Seriously?!"
"Yeah. It's like a family event going on."
"Wish I was there with you."
I sighed, "I'm sure they'd let you join up still."
"Mhmm yeah," miles hummed, "I don't know, man. Guess I enjoy looking out for the little guy a little more than the entire world."
"It's different when it's the whole world, isn't it. I mean, nobody knows who you are until you stop fusion reactor from leveling the city, or some other life threatening event. Puts more pressure on you I guess."
