Chapter 8: Unexpected Call

Two weeks went by since that time at the rooftop. Yibo buried himself in work and studies to try his best to forget Zhange. He even contemplated changing class but the only available teacher and class for that particular subject is the one that he was currently enrolled in.

"Hey you've been missing the new teacher's class. No one dared to miss his classes man.. Exams are near." Yubin said one afternoon as the friends were having lunch. 

"Yess, and he's so dreamy.. I can't get over looking at his beautiful face." Mianmian added taking her seat next to Yubin and Aqing. 

"You'd better not miss anymore. You won't have enough credits." Zichen said. "Yes and there's that test tomorrow too." Aqing added.

"Oh crap I totally forgot. Lemme borrow your notes guys." Yibo pleaded. 

"Sure thing but treat me lunch." Yubin winked.

"Okay fine." he replied.

That night he came back from his part time job extremely tired. Damn.. He still had to study for his test the next day.

*Ringgg *ringgg.. Yibo fished his phone from his bag pack and was pleasantly surprised when he saw Zhange's name on the receiver. His heart thumped uncontrollably as he quickly slide the screen to answer. 

"Zzhange.." he answered nervously. 

"Yibo.. Wang yibo.. where have you been student?" Zhange's voice... Oh how he missed hearing that voice after two weeks.

"I've been busy Zhange.. Zhanlaoshi." he replied. Trying his best to hide his excitement.

"Well... there's a test tomorrow and if you can't make it you might have to retake the class since your attendance record haven't been great. You don't have enough credit... I don't care what your reasons are but since you are enrolled in my class don't waste money by skipping." Zhange said.

"I..I'm sorry laoshi.. I will try my best to make it up." Yibo said

"make it up howw?" Xiaozhan asked.

"Aaarrgghh Yiboo!! Why is there cold water. Can you turn on the hot water!!" a loud female voice boomed across the living room.

"I see that you have company. Thats all. I hope to see you take my test tomorrow. Bye."

"Wait.. Zhangee... Lao shii....!!" but the call was cut from the other end.

Yibo stared at the phone for a good 10 minutes. He could not believe his Zhange called him. He thought Zhange had forgotten about him. But maybe he was just concerned for his student. Yibo told himself, somehow afraid of being overconfident of Zhange's feelings for him. Afterall, facing rejection from your crush wasn't the nicest thing in the world. So maybe.. just maybe he could hope for more, he smiled as his heart fluttered in excitement.

"yo yo.. whats you doing smiling at your phone like that?" Zoey asked as she was drying her hair.

"Its none of your business Zoey."

"ahemm... did you get yourself a girlfriend?? You'd better tell Zoey jiejie if you do!!"

"N O P E. not yet at least.."

"Whoaaa.. you're crushing on someone.. for real??? I thought my Bo di is the cold cold stud who never fell for anyone even though so many have thrown themselves at his feet"

"Nonsense."

"Why haven't they fallen for you yet? now tell me who is the lucky girl?"

Yibo smiled wryly giving her the 'I don't wanna tell you' look.

"Go to sleep. I need to study for my test tomorrow." Yibo went to his room leaving Zoey pouting.

Zoey was Yibo's cousin from his mother. They lived together in their grandmother's house when they were little. While his mom was working, Zoey, who was 5 years older took care of Yibo so they spent much of their childhood together. Zoey went to university in Italy and found work there afterwards. She was working for some fashion label since it had been her childhood dream. She was on vacation and stayed at Yibo's house.
