Chapter 38: What if..

Close to the end of his work hours at the office, Xiaozhan messaged Yibo:

Yibo did you want anything for dinner?

A minute later he replied:

No thanks Zhange. I'm eating out with a friend.

So he called Binbin and dragged him out to have dinner together.

"Hey man where are you? Come accompany me for dinner."

"Having a date man. Why aren't you eating with your man too?"

"He's got a date himself."

"What?? Ohh you poor thing. Just a sec.."

"Baby.. Can Zhanzhan come have dinner with us?" he asked the girl beside him.

"Sure." she said

"Okay. I'm sending you the location. We're already on our way and will be there in about ten minutes."

This time they went to eat seafood since Zoey was craving for it.

The place had wooden walls that mimic the inside of a log cabin. The ceiling was also made of wood with deer antlers juxtaposed together to create chandeliers and the place was full of them. Mini lightbulbs were tied around the deer antlers creating a dim array of yellow light hues. It made the entire place glow with orange light. The ambience was such that if he was to go during winter, the visuals itself would conjure a feeling of warmth. There were vintage photographs neatly framed and pinned on the walls along with fishnets. The decorations were ingeniously placed and the place looked elegant instead of tacky. Although Zhan kept wondering if deer antlers had any connection with seafood.

Hi Bin, Hey Zoey!! Xiaozhan spotted them sitting comfortably on a cushioned seat against wall. He pulled a chair across Binbin.

"Hey Zhan. You look terrible."

"Thanks for the reminder and you look awesome with your new haircut." Zhan rolled his eyes. He knew he had not had enough sleep and his complexion was getting worse.

"I know right. Why don't you get a haircut too. Your hair is getting long."

"Maybe next time I will."

They ordered food and wine

"Zhange how are you and Yibo? Are you guys getting along?" Zoey asked, finally dropping the ice.

Xiaozhan's head drooped slightly.

"I havent told him anything. I thought it would be better if you did it yourself. So how did it go?" she continued.

"You didnt get dumped did you?" Binbin interjected.

Zoey shot him a glance.

"Be nice Binge."

Zhan was silent for a while as he did not know what to say.

"Not exactly." He said weakly..

"Wait.. You haven't told him?" Zoey asked bewildered.

He shook his head.

"Oh noo..."

"Urgh baby I knew it he won't have the balls to tell him."

Bulls eye.

Zhan took the wine glass in front of him and gulped down the entire thing like he was drinking water

"Hey easy mann!"

He turned to Binbin and stared at him sternly.

"What would you do if you lost your memory and all of a sudden some guy you just met told you that You're his lover and jumped you. Won't you get freaked out?" Zhan finally said.
