"You've looked at it like six times, it'll be open in two seconds anyway." Andrew leaned on the horn. She sighed and turned her back to the gym, she'd been standing outside for a good five minutes.
"Have you thought about getting your license?" He asked and slurped up his Starbucks coffee.
"No" she yawned.
"Especially since you're alone now, you should have a way to get around."
"I do, they are called legs." He rolled his eyes at her.
"PureSide is really paying off for you and for them."
"I really like it so far." She agreed. She had on a soft black sweater, a blue PureSide shirt and black yoga pants with her black converse, her hair was in one long braid.
Traveling Black Friday had it's perks, while the masses were out at the stores shopping, she was traveling without suffocating crowds. She checked the weather in San Diego from her phone, it was supposed to be in the high sixties/low seventies the whole stay, she'd take that over Boston's cold weather right now. The flight was five hours give or take and she had the row to herself. She watched two in flight movies and lightly dozed before it was announced that they were landing in San Diego. She grabbed her luggage and went outside to catch a cab, the sun kissed her face and a pillow of warm air hit her as she walked outside, she welcomed the dry heat. Her hotel was smaller than she imagined, but it nearly touched the waves. She checked in and was surprised to find a woman in her room already, she looked familiar.
"Olivia! Hi, I'm Scotty Barnhardt, runner." She was the same height as Olivia, but very lean and moved lightly, she had dark red hair and heavy freckles all over her friendly face.
"Hi" They shook hands "So nice to meet you."
"You too!"
"I was actually on my way out, I hope you don't mind. My sister lives in L.A. and drove down, so I'm going to go meet her." Scotty grabbed a dark green clutch and scooted to the door.
"Oh, great, no problem at all, have a great time."
"Okay I'll see you later." She smiled and slid the door closed behind her.
Olivia knew what she wanted to do, she flung her suitcase on the empty bed and dug out a pink two piece with ruffled edges, grabbed a hotel towel and went out to the ocean. When her toes hit the warm sand, she moaned and lifted her head to the sun.
The water was cold but she didn't care at all, she swam and jumped and sunk into the wet sand, once her fingers were wrinkled and she was a salty mess, her stomach growled, reminding her she hadn't eaten since before five o'clock that morning. She dried off in the afternoon sun, savoring the free and careless feeling. When she rounded the corner to her room, she saw Crawford at the other end of the hallway in a suit, carrying a briefcase and luggage, she ran down the hallway and jumped on him, squeezing him, forcing him to drop his things, he caught her easily.
"Well hello."
"Hi!" She slid down "Oh sorry about the suit." There was a big damp spot on his jacket.
"Worth it." He unlocked his solo room, it was the same at hers ,but with one larger bed instead of two twins.
"No roommate." She observed.
"I'm the only guy, it's just me, you and Scotty, she's based out of Oregon." He flung his tie off and kicked off the shiny black shoes he was wearing.
"More business meetings?"
He nodded and grabbed a pair of shorts from his bag. "I'm trying to make a big investment out here, and there's so much shit, plus not being an American citizen and red tape." he slid off his pressed black dress pants and pulled on shorts.
