Chapter Twenty Five
“I won’t help you get exactly to him. That would be too easy and no fun to watch,” my principal was telling me, “But I’ll get you close to him. Ha-ha, I know exactly where I’m sending you. Have fun being killed by your boyfriend or watching him go suicidal, whatever comes first.” He snaps his fingers and I’m no longer in the desolate room.
Materializing in the middle of some swamp, I look around. The entire ground, everywhere, was covered in three inches of water so filthy and dark I couldn’t see the ground through it. I could see everything else around me with no trouble at all, as the sun hadn’t even touched the ground yet, though I knew it would be dark soon. The trees and fresh, green vegetation gave the smell of life.
I’m gonna kill him. This is so totes not cool! He just had to teleport me to a place where the ground was soaked. So much for having nice white Toms. I pull me left foot out of the water and see my shoe, completely ruined. What a jerk that guy was.
I had to think of a plan, and I had to think of one fast. I didn’t know where I was at. I didn’t know where anyone else was at. Pretty much, I had to rely on my instincts by choosing a random direction and walking. Hopefully Envy would be that way.
For five minutes I walked straight through the swamp thinking of what I was going to say to him when I saw him. Hey! Remember me?! You said you thought loved me ever since you first saw me. Can you stop being evil and be good again? I was unable to think of anything reasonable, and my train of thought was derailed when I saw a mysterious shadow.
The shadow darted from behind one tree to behind an adjacent bush maybe fifty yards in front of me. Whoa! I was definitely losing it right now. My emotions had been pushed beyond my limit, and I hadn’t slept in what felt like centuries.
Snap!
A branch fell from the top of a tree and landed right next to me. Looking up, I saw nothing. Maybe I needed to go to sleep right now. I just needed to rest and get Envy off my mind because I was starting to hallucinate.
I hear the sound of a high speed object cutting through the air behind me and then I both see and hear a metal ninja star stick in the trunk of a tree beside me. Alright, I wasn’t hallucinating, I was being stalked. But by what? Another shadow. Another ninja star, this one ripping the sleeve of my shirt.
“Ahh!” I let out from terror, not pain. Right in front of me was one of the ninja stars, the only weapon I had right now. I rush to it and pull it out. Timing it perfectly, waiting until the shadow darted, I got ready. As soon as the shadow makes a break for it, I chunk the ninja star, which doesn’t even go close to where I was aiming it. “Come on,” I mutter.
“Missed me.” The sound is a super high pitch whisper. A cloud of dull, black smoke shows itself twenty yards out. Within the smoke are dozens of bright, quick lightning strikes, all of which are not followed by the sound of thunder. The only sound I hear other than its voice is this high pitch clicking noise. What was that thing?
Seeing the other ninja star a few feet away from me, I take a step towards it but am too slow. The black smoke rushes towards me, takes the form of a fist, and shoves the fist into my abdomen sending me flying backwards.
As I’m getting up, I see the black smoke take the form of some kind of being. Its head had two hollow eyes and a mouth. A white surgeon’s mask – the only thing not black on the whole monster - with a small tear in the middle was sowed to its mouth by its lips. Its body was hidden under some kind of cloak that only exposed the tails and hands. The hands and arms were that of an alligator, only longer with talons sharper than they should’ve been. There were three tails, all of which were king cobra snakes perked up higher than the monsters head.
