Chapter Twenty Six
“What do you mean Envy and Hesh are over there?” Tear whispers. She looks next to her at the still asleep Kelsey, not wanting to wake her up. But, if she was able to sleep through all the noise that was just made, then Tear was wasting her time whispering.
My mouth falls open from shock. I shouldn’t have said that. They shouldn’t know about the calculator at all. How was I supposed to explain this to them? Thinking about it, I realize I shouldn’t know about it either. I finally decide there’s no point in keeping the calculator a secret from them any longer. Them knowing wouldn’t put anyone in any more danger. “Envy has this calculator. It’s basically an advanced piece of technology. He’s going to go crazy and kill himself if we don’t hurry and save him.”
Tear’s eyes jolt open. “Whoa, girl. How much marijuana did you smoke this morning? Hashtag getting high.” She holds her fingers to her lips hitting an invisible joint.
“I’m serious!” I stammer.
“Oh, I bet you are,” she says full of sarcasm.
Basically, Tear didn’t believe me at all, and neither did Kelsey when I woke her up –which was almost impossible BTW. They didn’t even believe me when I told them him and Hesh probably had the key. They said that even if I was being serious there was no point doing anything. I was a senior and he was a freshman, but not just any freshman, an ugly one. We would never work out so I should just let him die.
I begged, and I begged, and I begged for them to go help me find him, but they just wanted to go back to sleep.
“I’ll help you!” Blade comes out from behind a bush behind me and says in a super positive manner. A smile completely takes over his face.
Startled, not expecting anyone behind me, I jump. “Holy shizz, you almost scared me to death!” My pulse rocketed, my heart dropped, and the hair on my arms stood up. Then, all that goes away, and I look at him.
Blade was maybe five five, kinda short, and not to be mean, but he weighed like two hundred pounds none of it from muscle. He had short curly brown hair and a scar on his left cheek. The blue jeans, and ‘Donuts R Life’ T-shirt he had on fit him perfectly. I liked him, I really did, and I was really glad at least someone would help me with Envy.
“Sorry, I was just using the bathroom. I wasn’t trying to scare anyone,” he giggles at me.
The two of us left camp, leaving Kelsey and Tear behind, because if they didn’t want to help us, so be it. The location of where the helicopters were shooting at wasn’t that far away. We were literally able to run there without either of us getting too tired it was so close.
The whole run was full of anticipation and no talk. What was I going to say to Envy when I saw him? Would he still love me in the same way he thought he did? Would he even remember me? And then there was the question I anticipated the most… Was I going to be able to save him before he killed himself or me?!
“This place is completely obliterated. It looks like a Call of Duty battlefield,” Blade said when we finally got there. Trees lied all over the place, bullets were spread about, and the sound of any wildlife just wasn’t there.
I didn’t say anything back to him. I still hadn’t spoken since I left Kelsey and Tear. I just walked over to a fallen tree, sat on it, and put my face in my hands, balling my eyes out. The past two days, I had tried to be strong. I didn’t cry the entire time, but now… I just had too. I gave up all hope of finding my boyfriend.
