Chapter Twenty Nine
He moves his finger in on the enter button, about to kill me, when out of nowhere his eyes close. His entire body goes limp as he feints, falling backwards. First his rear hits the ground and then his upper body follows. The calculator, falling out of his hand, bounces once on the ground. My instincts are to pounce on it while I have the chance, but before I can do so he regains consciousness and grabs it.
“What happened?” He asks while standing up. “Where am I?” Then he looks at me and says, “Who are you?”
The best thing I can think of to say is nothing. The truth is I have no idea how to even respond. Was he joking? If he doesn’t remember anything, how did he remember to grab the calculator so fast?
Looking around he says, “Are we in Rome? And why on Earth do I have a calculator?” He turns the calculator around inspecting it from different angles. “Not sure. But anyways… Wanna see something cool?”
“Alright,” I agree.
“I learned this in school.” He types a series of numbers.
I reach to grab the calculator to see what he typed, but he jerks it away from me, raising his voice saying, “I didn’t say you could touch it! But look.”
5-3-1-8-0-0-8. “What does that mean?” I give a puzzled look.
“Oh yea, my bad.” He flips it upside down and motions for me to look again. “It says boobies.” He laughs.
I’m beyond confused right now. Does he remember anything or does he not? “Are you alright?”
He thinks on the question for a bit. “No, not really. Do you know who I am?”
“You’re Envy. I’m Christina, your protector. Do you by chance have a key in your pocket?”
Fumbling around his pockets he eventually pulls a key out and hands it to me asking what it was for. Instead of answering I tell him to follow me. I speed walk to the metal shield and use the first key to unlock it, then use the other key to unlock the chest underneath it.
“What’s in the chest?”
I open the chest and find four purple balls of energy. When I reach in to grab them, one absorbs into my skin. I’m unable to grab any of the others so I tell Envy to grab one, and it is absorbed into his skin also. Good. Now we got the life force of the finally quest. The only thing left to do was figure out what was wrong with Envy while we waited for tonight’s dreams.
“What was the energy thingy?” he asks.
I try to explain that we’re in the four quests, but he doesn’t remember anything at all. When I tried again to ask him to see the calculator he got really mad and started yelling about how it was his and nobody else was allowed to touch it.
“Do you even know what it is?” I ask motioning towards the calculator in his hand.
“Uh… Not really. But you still can’t see it.”
I think for a second. “Can we go somewhere else to talk? I really don’t like this place.”
“Sure. But where?”
“Hawaii Beach. I love the beach. I will explain everything to you once we get there.” I look around. This coliseum would’ve been a good place to stay and talk but I had a plan.
Envy laughs. “Hawaii? And how are we supposed to get to this place you call Hawaii Beach.” He struggles on the pronunciation of the word ‘Hawaii.’
