Chapter 8: Evelyn in their eyes Part 1 Raizen

I went downstairs to Raizen to find that he finished smoking. He walked towards the end and sat down with his feet dangling by the docks as I sat beside him and asked.

"So Rai, what's up?"

He pulled out a cigarette from his left pocket and offered it to me before I gave him a disappointed look. He put the cigarette back in his left pocket and laughed as he spoke

"Oh right, haha. Sorry, it's just common courtesy to share a cigarette before talking. I forgot that you had weak lungs"

The waves kissing the rocks made me calm but the way Raizen paced himself gave me an uneasy feeling. It seems like he dragged me out of the house because he knew something was up. The sun painted the sky a bright orange slowly turning to red as the tides started to rise. He gave me a calm look but his eyes were serious, I felt uneasy and started to lightly tap the boards of the pier. He chuckled a bit as he spoke.

"You know, the way you looked when Justin said those things about Evelyn is something I haven't seen in a long time. I believe that it was back at her funeral"

I don't remember pulling off a look akin to what I did at the funeral. I was a sobbing wreck, a bag of mixed emotions that was overcome by guilt and yet he compared present-day me to my past self. I was confused with what Raizen said so I asked.

"What do you mean? I was grief-stricken during Eve's funeral, how could I look like that now? "

Raizen chuckled as he responded

"I don't know man, I guess I should really stop smoking"

He proceeded to reach into his left pocket as he threw the cigarette into the ocean as we both laughed. He then gave me a relieved look as he kept his composure and looked back at the sun setting down. He then spoke while taking in the view

"So Jun, what do you like about Ashley?"

The question caught me off guard and I can feel the blood rushing down my cheek. It came out of nowhere and the way he set up the question is typical Raizen. I chuckled shortly before replying.

"Ashley is a cute girl, she's witty, she's fun, she's beautiful. I mean, I can't describe what aspect made me fall for her it's just her and I love it"

Raizen looked at me and smirked as he saw my red face. He then faced back to the ocean as the sea swallowed up the sun and the moon takes over. The sudden change in the atmosphere made me think that something is wrong with Raizen and by the way, he suddenly laid down by the pier and faced the stars, I felt like he and Piatrice are having problems. I playfully laid on his stomach while feeling uncomfortable. His rock hard abs make a lousy pillow but I continued to keep up the act as I asked him

"Are you having problems with Piatrice? It feels like you have something on your chest"

He chuckled lightly as he pushed me away from his stomach and spoke

"You're on my chest hahaha"

His cheerful laughs abruptly stopped as he spoke in a less happy demeanor

"It's just.....Ashley....":

My happy tone suddenly became slightly serious as I asked

"What about Ashley?"

Raizen stood up and lent me a hand as he pulled me up. He then said

"Ashley just gives off Evelyn vibes. You said that a part of Eve never left you and I think that's reflected in her"

I spoke cautiously trying not to be affected by his next words. Raizen tends to make the atmosphere cheery before delivering a heart-shattering truth. I braced for impact as I asked him.

"Do you think Justin was right about Evelyn?"

He looked at my eyes with certainty as he took a step back. He then spoke in a calming manner.

"I think Justin is wrong with Evelyn. The thing is, Justin was envious of Evelyn in how she stole you from him. Before Anne came along, you were the one person who understood him the most and he didn't take the anger out on you. He took it out on Eve. She didn't have a father figure and the closest she had was Wally so when you took on that role, you made her whole and that was something Wally wanted to thank you for."

It was uncharacteristic for me to do but I hugged him right there and then. I broke on him and hugged him tighter as tears flowed from my face to his shoulders. He patted my back gently while hugging tighter staying silent throughout. What he said went straight to my heart because I felt that I was maturing slowly whenever I had to deal with Evelyn. A bright light illuminated the dock and I could hear car beeps followed by a masculine voice.

"Are you two love birds done having your moment? We bought AFC!"

He was followed by a feminine voice

"Hey Jun did you finally come out? How are you going to explain this to Ashley?"

The sound of Justin and Anne made me chuckle lightly but Raizen's response made me laugh and helped me snap out of my crying fit

"You better hide yourself, Anne. I could see your nose bleeding from here. Your ship is finally sailing isn't it?"

Raizen pretended to smother me in kisses as a jolly feminine voice screamed in delight. I pulled away from the hug and laughed at Raizen as he winked at me and blew a kiss. We all went back to the house where we all ate dinner. We became the talk of the table with Anne gay shipping us while Piatrice and Evelyn pretended to be a lesbian couple. It still brings me a smile to my face in how Raizen saw Evelyn in my eyes and how there are 2 extra plates on the table. Evelyn finished eating and walked towards the sink where she washed her plate while she gave a transmission

"I'll wait in your room, I want to know what you talked about"

I finished eating and proceed to wash my dish and went straight to my room after. I could feel the cold breeze of the AC as Evelyn playfully covered herself in my blanket. I playfully nuzzled with her feeling our hearts sync once again as I whispered into her ear

"Gay coitus"

She erupted with laughter while playfully hitting me with a pillow saying,

"You can't be gay, I love you"

I scooped her up and laid her down in a spooning position as I whispered

"I love you too"

We both cuddled under the blanket as our bodies kept us warm. I kept smiling through the night knowing that Raizen was okay with Evelyn.
