6 days passed by like ice melting on a hot summer day. The day of enrollment loomed closer and closer as we prepare to open a new chapter in our lives. I still haven't heard Anne's side of Eve because of how much our sleep patterns vary and on the days that she's awake, she is working on her laptop for her tuition. I hope I find a way to talk to her soon It was 11 PM and we were gathered by the dining room waiting for Raizen and Piatrice to finish cooking. I was seated next to Evelyn and parallel to us were Anne and Justin talking about the game they are playing as Evelyn looked on and sent transmissions to me
"Anne looks so cute when you pair her up with Justin. The height difference, the personality, and even how they look contradicts each other. I guess it is true that opposites attract"
I hid my laughter under my breathe as Evelyn continued to ship Justin and Anne. Deep in my mind, I was thinking of ways to be alone with Anne so I can talk to her. I don't have to be subtle in my approach since she's an honest woman. I got distracted when an alluring scent wafted around the area and the chatter settled down while the food was laid down on the table. We all said our prayers to honor the food and ate soon after. Anne was quick to compliment on how delicious the food was as Raizen stared at me and Evelyn seemingly without reason. Piatrice took the kind compliments and smiled soon after before degrading the dish because of Raizen's shoddy slicing but even if he was insulted, he kept looking at us.
I felt a bit uncomfortable and decided to confront Raizen about it. I stopped eating and asked Raizen calmly.
"Hey Rai are you okay?"
Raizen snapped out of the trans like state and blushed as he replied in a flustered manner.
"Ah....uh...Sorry Jun, I just feel like I've seen this before but couldn't quite put my finger on it."
Evelyn and I gave each other confused looks before I went back to eating. Evelyn asked Raizen.
"What do you mean Rai?"
Raizen seemed like he was unsure of the answer he had. He was stumbling over his words until he said something that caught my attention.
"Nothing Ashley, it's just that.....When you're with Jun, you look like a friend of ours."
Evelyn blushed as the words came out of Raizen's mouth and as a result, she went back to eating before Piatrice dismissed the notion.
"You should stop staying up late Rai. You're seeing things again you oaf."
Raizen defended himself by stating.
"Hey, I don't stay up that late, I mean, compared to Justin"
Justin was quick to respond.
"Oy, contrary to what you say, I sleep early Rai"
Anne chuckled as she replied without missing a beat.
"I guess 3 am is early"
The dining room erupted with laughter before slowly fading away as everyone went back to eating. I smiled at everyone as I fondly looked back at the memories we built and to see us grown up and still together made me tear up on the inside and then I had an idea. Maybe I could sneak in a question that would reveal what Anne's opinions on Evelyn. Maybe I can hide my intentions on an innocent question without Evelyn figuring it out. I was curious to see what career Evelyn would have in Anne's eyes but I didn't want to give it away so I looked at Raizen and asked him.
"Hey Raizen, you're taking literature right?"
Raizen looked at me and replied.
"Well, it's my first choice but I passed my second. Industrial Engineering."
