The clock on the wall read almost midnight when a hard knock on the door echoed through the house. I grimaced from my seat on the sofa as I listened for the cry I expected from the baby monitor, thanking the lord when it remained silent. I'd just barely gotten her to sleep after almost an hour of singing just about every nursery rhyme under the sun, although I hoped she got her singing voice from Harry and not me in the future.

I wasn't expecting anyone; it was late and the rain had been coming down harder than I'd seen all year for the entire day, leaving giant puddles of rainwater covering most of the roads. I debated ignoring it and pretending I wasn't in or asleep, but the TV playing reruns of Friends was clearly visible from the front reason and I doubt I'd get away with it.

I reluctantly made my way to the front door as the person on the other side knocked again just as I opened it. I frowned deeply as I was met with Harry stood on the doorstep absolutely soaked to the bone from the rain. He was completely drenched, with water droplets dripping from the ends of his hair as he pushed it back out of his face and his clothes clinging tightly to his body.

"Harry, I...why are you so wet? Why are you here? " I rushed out once I realised a few seconds had passed and I hadn't said anything while he stood there staring back at me.

"The main roads blocked off...I had to leave my car. I walked the rest of the way here."

I opened my mouth to say something but closed it when I came up empty. I still wasn't sure why he was stood on my doorstep unannounced at this time of night when the weather was the worst it had been in months. I stepped to the side wordlessly to invite him in out of the rain, he brushed past me slightly with a trail of wet footprints where he walked as I continued to stare out of the door, unsure if I was imagining this whole thing. Sure enough though, the wet footprints were still there when I glanced down from the rain that was bouncing off of the pavement outside.

"Jesus, you must be freezing, here pass me your coat..." I snapped out of my state of disbelief as my eyes fell upon him again. "I might have some of Will's clothes that might fit you upstairs...God, Harry...why are you even here when it's chucking it down?"

"Marnie."

"If you want to go and get changed and I'll-"

"Marnie."

"I'll put your clothes in the dryer and they probably won't take-"

"Marnie!"

I stopped suddenly as he reached out and took a hold of my hands to grab my attention from my flustered state and turned me to directly face him. His hands were damp from the rain and held no heat within them, I lifted my eyes from our hands and properly looked at him in the light. His complexion was pale with a rosy pink spread across his cheeks and strands of hair stuck to his face from the rain that had completely drenched him. I felt my heartbeat quicken as I eventually met his eyes, the shade of green seeming brighter than usual in the dim light of the kitchen.

Were his eyes always that beautiful?

"Why are you here?"

My voice was barely above a whisper as my eyes locked with his, neither of us spoke for a moment. I stared into his eyes that told a thousand stories without saying a word, the same soft, green eyes that I'd loved so deeply.

When I looked into them it was like the world stops. It stops turning and suddenly it's only me and him. No noise, no other people, no thoughts or worries, no yesterday or tomorrow. The world just stops, and suddenly it's just a million shades of green with specs of golden yellow. I'd lost count of the times I'd lost myself in them; it was like he held the world within his eyes and every time I looked into them I found myself losing the words I wanted to say.
