Hello 😇How are y'all?
Enjoy!
Khadijah Daihaah's POV
SAKUN LALLE, HENNA DAY.
The remaining three weeks passed in a blur and now, today being Thursday, it's the Henna day and bridal shower later. My skin is glowing, literally. Anty Asmau, Ummi and Adda kept feeding me the weirdest things, some of which taste sweet, others bitter. The gyaran jiki woman still hasn't left, she's still here doing her job making me go through torturous sessions every day. The waxing part is the one I loathe the most. Though afterwards, my skin is as soft as that of a baby's but the pain is excruciating.
Our house is flooded with guests roaming about, trooping in and out confirming my thoughts and I am indeed the one getting married. Every time I leave the room, my aunts will tease me endlessly about being the bride, I had to move back to Anty Asmau's flat because there aren't as much people there. Believe me, some people that I'm just seeing for the first time are the ones that are majorly here. People from Karaye are her too, and that means my beloved Inna Nana and Inna Balki are here too.
Just nice.
What are lovely reunion?
You all noted the sarcasm right?
Jannah stayed with me throughout the weeks, helping me with the stuff I need and basically helped me stay at home. Also, we got time to bond since it's the last time we'd be together before I become a Mrs as she says. I'll miss that girl so badly.
Prince, well, I haven't heard anything from him in a week, I don't know if he's back or not. He didn't call me and the one time that I actually got the guts and called him, he didn't pick up, I tried many times afterwards but he didn't pick up those too. I wanted to call and ask Samhah but I couldn't, neither could I ask Adda Anee, those women will tease me for life saying that I care about my husband. God I don't think I'll ever get used to saying that word.
Just four months ago, if you would have told me that I will be married to Prince I would've laughed at you and insulted your whole generation and then ask you which mental asylum you escaped from. But, here I am, sitting in front of the Henna artist as she designs up my hand.
Well, obviously we couldn't have the henna day in either of the compounds because of the people so as planned initially, we decided to have in Adda Anee's house where there aren't many people. It's just some of my cousins that are staying there anyway.
I, Jannah, Mahira, Adda Anee, a whole bunch of my cousins and a couple of my friends back from Kano, Janan who's now married with two adorable twins, Umm Sulaym, and Ibty, whom freaked out when she found out I was getting married to an El Khabir are all seated outside in the backyard on a big carpet in groups. We've started this since 1:00om seeing that the bridal shower would be 7:30pm to 11:00pm.
There were five Henna artist working on our hands but mine is different. She's only doing mine as I'm the bride so mine will be different from theirs. Plus, I'll have red henna on my palms and feet too.
Jannah, Adda and Mahira already had theirs done so they are seating beside me as they wait for it to dry.
I'm dressed in an ankara oxblood two piece blouse and a six piece wrapper that Adda had made by devouge couture. The headtie tied loosely on my head. The henna lady still designing my hand.
"Kinsan wani abu, you should write her husband's name on her palm" Mahira said to the lady making me shake my head instantly.
"No way. Just leave it the way it is" I said hoping that the lady will listen to me and not this annoying cousin of mine.
