Always With You- SOKEEFE(unlocked)

Chapter Five

A/N: Decided to post a couple days early for you guys! Hope you like it!!

"What did you and Oralie talk about?"

"Keefe, it's classified information, you know that."

"So?"

"So, I can't tell you yet."

"But Sophie!" Keefe pouted.

"You know too much already." Sophie joked.

"I don't understand why you have been so reluctant to open the cache."

"It's not my cache, Keefe."

"If it was, would you have opened it by now?" Sophie remained silent at Keefe's question. "I know you, Foster. Whether you like it or not."

Sophie took her cape off and sat on Keefe's bed. "Can we get to what I came here for?" she said.

"Depends on what you came here for."

"Homework. You missed a week of it, and Leto doesn't want you to be behind. And don't look at me like that cause it's not my fault you were in a coma for a week."

"Yeah, it was Mommy Dearest who decided it would be fun to almost kill her own son." Ro said from the corner.

"Exactly." Keefe said, "It's her fault, not mine, so why do I have to do my homework."

Sophie pulled out paper and a book from her bag and set them on Keefe's makeshift desk he had at Shores of Solace. "Forkle wanted you to get started on some work to prepare you for your new schedule."

"New schedule?" Keefe asked looking confused. Sophie handed over a parchment with his edited schedule. "Why is Sir Tiergan my empathy mentor?"

"He's not. Forkle thought it would be a good idea if you join my and Fitz's telepathy sessions." Sophie explained.

"Well that's not going to be awkward at all." Ro added sarcastically.

"So I'm guessing he did that to search for more hidden memories?" Keefe suggested.

"Kind of. He wanted to start your ability detecting without you actually having to take that course. Adding you into a class with eleven year olds would raise a lot of suspicions and questions, which none of us need right now." Sophie said, "Your homework is to write down ideas as to what your new ability could be, and Fitz and I will be going through memories with you to see if your mom left any clues."

"Again, my mom's fault, not mine, therefore she should be doing the homework instead of me." Keefe said.

"Do you want to figure out your ability or not?"

Keefe sighed and fell back on his bed. "It's not that I don't want another ability, but... I don't want another thing to deal with."

"I get that, but you also have to realize your mom didn't modify your genes, she just enhanced them. She knew the abilities you were able to manifest as, and she just gave them a boost. So technically you could've gotten this ability with or without Gisela's help."

"I didn't ask for a second ability though. I know I complain about being an empath, but I was actually starting to like the ability and see the pros in it, and this just puts more on my plate."

Sophie hugged him from behind."Keefe, I didn't ask for more than one ability either, but I got five. I had to realize that I was given each one for a reason, and I wouldn't be where I am without them."
