Chapter Four

"SOPHIE!!!" Sophie heard a squeal from downstairs.

"Sophie, honey, you're friends are here." Edaline called. She ran down the stairs, thankfully not tripping as she got to the living area. Biana immediately pulled her into a hug while squealing.

"You seem excited." Sophie said.

"You're not?" Biana gasped.

"I think you're just too excited." said a tall boy with piercing teal eyes.

Edaline may or may not have invited Sophie's friends over for a sleepover without her permission. In her defense, she did say that she'd have a sleepover once Keefe was well enough to come, and Elwin had given him the clear the day before. The Vackers were usually(always) the first to arrive given Biana's excitement fir social events, and Fitz was always dragged along with her. Tam and Linh came along afterwards which was the first time she'd seen Tam in days. Dex came a mess of course, covered in what seemed to be... blueberries?

"Sorry I'm late. The triplets were a bit if a handful today." Dex gestured to his berry covered ensemble.

"Huh. Who knew Captain Blueberry would make a return?" Sophie laughed.

"What's a blueberry and why is Dex the Captain?" Tam asked.

"When we were Level Twos we had these horrible royal blue uniforms that made us look like this blue human fruit. It was Dex's nickname for a while."

"Thanks again for that, Sophie." Dex said sarcastically.

"You're very welcome."

"I think we can all agree that I'm the best nickname giver, though." A voice said from the door.

"Excuse me? Are you offending my nickname selection?"

"Maybe I am." they said taking a couple steps closer to her. "But you can always... prove that you're worthy of giving nicknames."

"And how would I do that?" Sophie said stepping so close that their shoes were almost touching.

"How do you think?" Keefe smirked.

"SIX FEET! SIX FEET! YOU KNOW THE RULE! BACK IT UP." Ro yelled splitting the distance between Sophie and Keefe.

"What is Ro doing?" Sophie transmitted to Keefe.

"Ro decided to make a set of 'rules' we have to follow, hence the six feet."

"Huh."

"I'm confused." Tam said.

"So am I. Sophie, care to explain." said Fitz.

"Why is everyone looking at me? I didn't do anything."

"How 'bout we just head upstairs?" Keefe said. "I'm sure we can continue playing 'Make Foster Blush' upstairs."

"Don't think we won't forget about this though." Linh argued.

Sophie muttered a small thanks while Keefe pushed their friends up to her room.

Sophie gave a small sigh of boredom from naming the stars outside her window. Sleep hadn't welcomed her for the past couple days and she was starting to feel it's results. She thought that maybe if she counted and named the stars, it would help her get to sleep... it didn't, it only made her miss it more. Giving up, she decided to head downstairs, but she knew the task wouldn't be easy given the obstacle course in front of her. Her friends were all sprawled across her bedroom floor, hopefully sleeping. Jump over Biana's leg, then Tam's arm, around Linh and Dex, then over a snoring Fitz. Easy, right?
