A/N: In advance, this whole AN is probably just going to be a huge apology for not updating in two weeks. Yes... two weeks. For a week straight, every time I tried to go on Wattpad and write for this story, I'd always get really bad writers block, which I know is a really lame excuse... so I have another. Now hear me out, I'm busy. Like really busy. ... Okay not really that busy, but I have a lot on my plate alright. On top of all that I had my very first anxiety attack!!! ...yayyyyyy! So in other words, please keep me in your prayers because your girl's strugglin'. Okay I'm going to stop now. enjoy.
Keefe's POV
Tears. Lots and lots of tears. But it was kind of expected of Grady and Edaline, given it was their 'dead' daughter standing in front of them. If he had lost sixteen years with Sophie, he wouldn't know what to do with his life. But given Sophie's current scenario... Keefe didn't even want to think about it. There were other things to worry about. He had Jolie to worry about.
She could teleport away at any moment. So it would probably be a good idea to restrain her before she could run away again. But Edaline went over and wrapped her in the tightest hug he'd ever seen, enough so that she couldn't leave the mother ever again.
"Um... good to see you too?" Jolie said to her mom.
Edaline pulled back and cupped her daughter's face, examining every inch, "You look all grown up." she whispered as tears fell to her cheeks. Grady walked over shyly and slowly wrapped his arms around his wife and daughter.
Keefe felt something cold drip down his face and moved his hand up to wipe the tear. These were the days he hated being an empath. The days filled with overwhelming emotions that took over his own. He didn't have time to be weak, or to cry. Keefe knew he had to be strong, especially now that the strongest person he knew was laying unconscious on the cot next to him.
He stood up and walked over to the blonde, turquoise eyed, girl. Grady and Edaline backed away, not taking an eye off their daughter, and Keefe quickly realized their mistake. He hastily grabbed her wrist before Jolie could teleport away.
"Huh. You're actually smarter than your mother says you are. No wonder the Moonlark chose you." Jolie said.
"My mother doesn't know shit." Keefe told her through clenched teeth.
Jolie laughed, "Oh really? Gisela is the most intelligent person I know, and her vision for the future is even better. If only you knew..."
"If only I knew what?!" Keefe yelled.
"If only you knew the extent of your abilities. Your power. The Neverseen can give you so much more, even a way to save that little girlfriend of yours." she gestured towards Sophie, "You were meant for more than this, Keefe. Stop restraining yourself."
"You don't know anything about me." he said as a whisper.
Mr. Forkle came and stepped in between the two, forcing Keefe's grip on Jolie's wrist to break, "Let's stop this before anything gets out of hand."
"Forkle," Keefe started, but was quickly interrupted by a sharp, cracking sound.
All he saw was Jolie's angry face as she slipped away and fell into the void. But there was something more. Something deeper. Her eyes looked as if they belonged to someone else. Under the layer of turquoise, was what looked like a plea, a call for help. It was as if... no. Keefe couldn't get his hopes up. He needed to keep working, keep training. He needed to get Sophie back.
"You let her go." Keefe yelled, "Why did you let her go!? Don't you get it? She was probably our one chance to find out the Neverseen's next move, and on top of that, maybe we could've done something to save Sophie, rather than sitting here and waiting for her to wakeup herself."
