"So, how was school today?" Edaline asked Sophie.

"Pretty... weird actually."

"How so?"

"Well for starters I didn't have inflicting class. Leto decided I should do a 'teleportation class' with both himself and Bronte. I found a new way of teleporting, and then you wouldn't believe what happened at lunch with Linh and Dex—"

"Wait, hold on a second. You found a new way to teleport?"

"Yeah. Do you remember how I told you about how the baby alicorns were getting into the gorgodon enclosure?" Sophie continued when Edaline nodded, "Well, apparently I can teleport like that as well, and Forkle had me test it out today, and it ended up working."

"You never cease to surprise me." Edaline said and kissed the top of her daughter's head.

"Trust me, I surprised myself too."

"Do you know what time you have to be at the Healing Center tonight?"

"7:00 I think? I'll have to ask Fitz."

"Hmmm." Edaline said in response.

"What?! What does 'Hmmm' mean?"

"You and Fitz?"

"Mom, you know him and I are 'taking a break'. We're still friends though, considering we still have to see each other during telepathy, and for any meetings."

"Isn't it weird though? I mean, it would be weird for me if I were in your position."

"I think it will be at first, but him and I are cognates. We basically are meant to be best friends, and right now that's all we can be."

"When did my daughter become so wise?"

"I've had a lot of time to think."

"You know what? Why don't you invite your friends over this weekend, and your dad and I will get out of the house ourselves."

"I don't know if I could do that if Keefe wasn't there with us, you know? It feels weird not having him around all the time."

"Sophie, I don't think weird is the feeling you're looking for."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Sophie blushed.

"It means whatever you want it to mean, sweetie. If you don't want to invite friends over, that's okay."

"Lets just see if Keefe wakes up first."

"Alright, whatever you want." Edaline laughed.

"Why are you laughing? Mom?!" Sophie couldn't help laughing too, and soon that was all they were doing.

For the past week, the Healing Center has been Sophie's second home. She would spend every other night- and some days- there to keep track of Keefe's dreams and try to get him to wake up, or at least make progress. Elwin was nice enough to let her sleep in her usual cot which she had decorated her blankets and pillows when she was recovering from her echoes.

Sophie had also given Keefe her bedtime buddy, Ella, because Lord Cassius was opposed to bringing Mrs. Stinkbottom for Keefe thinking it was childish and silly. His dad stopped by once in a while, usually when Fitz was there so that the two could also work on searching his memories for anything else Gisela might have hidden, but she had come across Cassius a few times. He didn't really make an effort for any conversation with her and usually dismissed her whenever they were together, which Sophie didn't understand.
