A/N: This is kind of a filler chapter leading up to the next. Sorry!!! In return I decided to make this chapter a little bit longer and to upload a day early. Hope you enjoy!

Sophie walked on the grounds of Havenfield, with Keefe and their bodyguards trailing behind her. The glass bottle felt cold in her hands, reminding her of the ice-like burns that covered her palms only three years back. She wasn't scared to do the illegal task of bottling the unmapped stars, but rather what she knew would come afterwards. Sophie could see the dread in Keefe's face every time someone asked him if he'd manifested yet, or when someone brought up his mother, who had messed with his natural DNA to, as Lady Gisela would put it, 'allow him to fulfill his full potential', which everyone knew was her nice way of saying, 'make him better'.

But Sophie, of all people, understood what he was going through... with the DNA altering part, at least. Keefe was with her every time the Black Swan had to fix her abilities, and he had witnessed her triggering an ability, twice. It felt strange now that she was on the other side of the whole scenario, but at the same time, she was prepared to channel her inner Keefe and be with him no matter what, just as he was there for her.

"Is anyone going to mention what just happened?" Keefe said making Sophie stop in her tracks.

"What is there to mention?" she asked, trying to avoid the subject just incase Grady or Edaline were still out in the pastures.

Keefe scoffed, "Maybe the fact that we just talked to a dead girl as if we're necrokinetics or something."

"There are necrokinetics here?" Sophie asked him.

"No, but if there were I'm guessing that's what it'd be like."

"We can't mention this to Grady and Edaline, any of you." she said to the group, "Not yet at least. Not until we're sure it's safe and they're prepared. Alright?"

Everyone nodded their agreement and continued to follow into the mansion-like house.

"Sophie!" Edaline yelled and rushed in for a hug, "Where have you been?!"

"I had detention." she responded.

Grady walked into the room, "For three hours? And since when do they have afterschool detentions?" he said.

"Since Lady Belva started taking her meetings during lunch." Keefe said leaning against the door frame.

"I am assuming you're the reason my daughter was in detention today?" Grady asked Keefe.

Keefe gasped, "Why ever would you think such a thing?!"

Sophie rolled her eyes at Keefe and turned to sit down to watch the show between him and her adoptive dad.

"So... that's a yes, then?" Grady said.

"Technically it's both of our faults, not just mine." Keefe explained.

"But... you were still there, weren't you?"

Keefe scratched the back of his head, "Well... yeah."

"I think it's about time for dinner." Edaline said walking into the kitchen to gather everyones meal.

"Certainly." Grady said with an evil-like grin.

"Keefe, sweetheart, would you like to join us?"

"Thank you for the offer, Mrs. Ruewen, but I couldn't be a burden."

"Not at all, Keefe. Come in, come in." Edaline told him.

Keefe smirked at Grady before walking into the house and into the kitchen area to help Edaline grab the utensils.
