VOW

"Even if you murdered me, I'd still love you," Y/N jokingly giggled out, cuddling into the side of her newly-wedded husband.

"Oh baby," Daniel sighs, shaking his head as he leaned over to peck his wife's forehead. "I would never lay a harmful finger on you."

"You wouldn't?"

"Never in a million years, and that's a vow."

Y/N's eyes opened to a flood of tears rolling down her cheeks, but she quickly wiped them away before Ethan could wake up and notice. He was sleeping soundly in their bed, arm wrapped protectively around her despite them being out of harm's way now. Since she's escaped that abandoned church Grayson had dragged her into, no one has since tried to barge their way into their lives and attempt to break the unlikely lovers apart again.

If there was anything Y/N detested more than nightmares, it was flashbacks. Especially when they consisted of her abusive and now deceased ex-husband. It was strange, though; usually, she'd only get flashbacks of him being horrible to her. Last night, however, she had gotten one of one of the few times Daniel was ever sweet and loving towards her. Granted, the situation that was given in her slumber was all a lie, of course, but she still hated reminiscing over the small part of her marriage where things were good. She would have thought her toxic relationship with Daniel would lead her to a life of isolation and reluctance to get into another one. But she guesses she had no choice.

There was truly nothing that could have stopped her from falling in love with Ethan.

He was nothing compared to her ex, though. Despite being a violent demon, he was caring and gentle towards her. Sure, he brutally killed others right before her very eyes, going against what she thought were her morals, but in the end it was all to protect her. He never hurt her, unlike a man who evidently stemmed from one of God's "heavenly" creatures.

Hearing the sound of a soft yawn, Y/N looks to her left and smiles fondly at the sight of Ethan stirring awake; demons don't necessarily have to sleep but he does for her. Perhaps to make her unusual life a little more usual. He blinks his beautiful eyes open and looks at her, observing her own face and he soon murmurs, "What's wrong?"

"What do you mean?" Hadn't she been smiling?

"I can tell something's on your mind," he says, sitting himself up so that his back was to the headboard like hers. "Usually I'd read it myself to find out, but I don't do that anymore, your thoughts are your privacy."

She rolls her eyes and sighs, "It was nothing... just a stupid flashback."

He frowned. "About Daniel?" He killed the motherfucker and he still manages to creep into her brain.

"Yeah," she mumbled, twiddling her fingers against her lap. "It was just... it was just about a vow he had broken that he made for me. I don't know, it was sort of random to have."

Ethan grabs her hand in his, bringing it up to his lips to press a soothing kiss against it. "He didn't deserve you, that piece of shit. And to be honest, neither do I... you're an angel, really. But I am more than certain I can make vows to you and never break them over the course of my eternal life."

Intrigued, Y/N leans into him, curiously asking, "Oh yeah? And what's that?"

Suddenly he curls his hand underneath the blanket, making her eyes go wide as to what he could possibly be searching for in his pants (other than the one thing on her mind), but soon he lifts it back out and presents a tiny black leather box. Her mouth falls open a little; is it what she things it is?

He opens it up, revealing a black diamond encrusted ring. It truly looked vintage, but it was absolutely beautiful. Y/N's eyes flickered from the ring to Ethan, who was staring at her. Bluntly, he stated, "I'm proposing to you, Y/N."
