Y/n L/n's Survival Log: Entry 67.5

Newborn Sea Emperor Leviathans emerged from their eggs, sometimes head first, sometimes fin first. Yet, as if spurred by an invisible force, they all knew where to go.

You swam with them as they greeted their mother for the first and final time. After a wordless exchange between the group, the children turned, swimming for the portal.

"My young are swimming for the shallows. I thank you." The leviathan spoke. You let out a small smile, looking up to the leviathan.

"Their freedom is my end." Your smile quickly faded as the Sea Emperor seemed to lose balance, falling. She held herself up with a single fin as her children left, leaving an array of golden orbs behind, floating in the water.

"I do not know how long you wish to stay on this world, but one good turn deserves another." She began to relax, laying down on the artificial seabed.

"I waited many years for this, so I will wait some more. You were able to see my children away from this prison, so will stay alive to see you away from this world. From this planet." She nearly whispered. You bit your lip, stopping yourself. Hearing those words made you want to sit down beside her, to share in her pain, but there was nothing you could do now.

"Go, free yourself of your illness, and leave this place." She told you. You nodded, swimming up to one of the golden orbs.

Now that you were closer to it, you could see what it really was. It was some type of fluid, that much was clear, but it was thick, almost comparable to gelatin.

This was Enzyme 42, the answer to your life. You held up your hand, touching the substance. You drew your hand back, to look for something you could use to collect it, without it slipping through your fingers, only to notice that a large amount of the enzyme had clung to your hand.

What the... you shook your hand, seeing the enzyme stubbornly cling, before trying to wipe it off with your other hand. This instead spread the enzyme to your other hand, as it slowly crept along your body to cover the entirety of it. All at once, your body convulsed, as you felt strength flow through you. It ended, leaving you breathing heavily. You were going to run out of oxygen soon.

You swam back to Alpha, getting into the sub, and taking out your scanner. You pointed the tool at your arm, pulling the trigger on it.

"Scans show no active signs of the Kharaa bacterium." You let out a sigh of disbelief, pulling off your glove. As expected, the cysts were gone, and so was the pain.

You held your hands to your chest, emotions flooding through you. This disease that plagued you for two months was gone... right?

This was too good to be true, it had to be. You grabbed some fiber mesh from Alpha's storage, swimming to another patch of enzyme. Putting the mesh around the blob, you pulled it towards you, wrapping the enzyme in it and bringing it with you. If this really eradicated the Kharaa, then you needed to play it as safe as possible.

Your eyes slowly fluttered open, as you began to regain consciousness. The first thing you noticed was how warm you were. You fell asleep tied up in cables, with no blanket, so why were you so warm?

Beside you, someone fidgeted, catching your attention.

"Don't... trying..." You recognized Marina's mumbling in her sleep beside you. She was....close, to say the least. Her arm was wrapped around your torso, holding you close to her, and her face was nuzzled into your neck.
