Yep, it's me (which you obviously knew). I just wanted to say... I speak Star Wars but it's like not my first language (Percy Jackson or WoF would be my first language) so sorry if I get something wrong!
-Ahsoka's POV-
"Are too!"
"Are not!"
"R2-D2!" argued Dawn.
"I've told you a million times and it hasn't even been 5 minutes! I don't like Rex more than as a friend!" Ahsoka half-yelled... oh, kriff. Right as she walked into the massive and highly echoing loading bay.
"SUUUUUUURE," replied Dawn in a whisper one last time, before slipping away into the ranks of soldiers. Ahsoka shot one more glare at her and went to stand next to SkyGuy, blushing furiously.
"Now that where all here," said Anakin, raising an eyebrow at Ahsoka. "Everyone to your gun ships. We need to get down there fast, there's a storm brewing."
"Yes, General," called all the clones, marching down to the gun ship double time. Once everyone was on board, the ships took off. Ahsoka was piloting her gun ship, it was important the best pilots fly to get as many troops through the storm as possible.
"Come in Ahsoka," came Anakin's voice in the transmitter. He was piloting a ship near her. "Be careful and follow my orders once we reach the ground. We can't afford to lose anyone."
"Don't worry, Master," replied Ashoka. "I intend to follow orders as well as you do." And with that assurance, she shut off the com-link and dived through the dark gray clouds.
She held tight to the controls as she spiraled down towards the misty ground, nose first. Troopers behind her struggled to keep their footing as she risked them a glance. She pulled up at the last second, gliding to the ground with a rough skid.
She pulled back hard on the controls, but the slick ground wasn't giving her any grip. Yanking the controllers one more time, she leapt backwards out of her chair. "Everyone out!" she called. "This ship isn't going to land!"
She grabbed onto a handle as the ship jerked, bouncing over the terrain. Soldiers jumped out of the side in masses, activating their jetpacks for a short hop to the ground. Ahsoka watched as Dawn jumped out higher than anyone else and still tucked into a tumble and landed without her jetpack. She waited until everyone was out to jump, pushing off with the Force and tumbling a lot like Dawn.
The gun ship continued to skid, shooting spark up from the strangely purple ground until it suddenly disappeared. A huge *crash* was heard and the troops raced over to the side of the cliff to see the mangled remains of the gunship lying on the ground at the foot of the mountain.
Ahsoka exhaled in relief. Sure, now they didn't have a way out, but it could have been worse. They could have been in the ship when it crashed.
The explosion burned away the fog for a moment, and Ahsoka could see a looming structure in the far distance. A bit nearer, a smaller wall-like building stood.
She was interrupted from her thoughts when her communicator beeped. "Snips, come in," came Anakin's voice. "A ship just crashed a bit behind us. Are you all right?"
"All fine, master," replied Ahsoka. "We got out before that happened. We are standing on the edge of a cliff behind you. Meet you and your troops at the outpost entrance."
She turned to the clones. "Stick close everyone," she said. "It's easy to get lost in the fog. We need to get down this cliff and to the outpost." The clones nodded, and with a splattering of "Yes, Commander Tano," scrambled carefully down the cliffside with the aid of their jetpacks.
Ahsoka felt someone brush her shoulder and turned to see Dawn smirking next to her. "Race you down!" she challenged, leaping off the edge, jumping from crevice to crevice and barely using her jetpack on the smallest of holds. Ahsoka backed up and leaped right off the edge, plummeting right past the clones and saluting to Dawn before tucking into a tight roll and coming up with her green lightsabers raised.
Following her call, the clones charged towards the base, sticking close together and being careful to keep their footing on the slippery ground. Jedi or not, Dawn raced side by side with Ahsoka until they reached Anakin's battalion hiding in a copse of trees right near the back entrance to the fortress.
"Right," he said, addressing the clones. "We have a limited time when the door is open without guards as they rotate. We need to get in the back and to the power structure on the second floor. We should be able to send a pulse through the outpost to deactivate all the droids- it was installed as a safety measure before the base was taken. They have numbers on their side, so we need to be fast and quiet."
"Yes General!" was called from all sides. Ahsoka turned to Dawn- or the empty spot where Dawn had been.
"Hey Master," she whispered, trying not to draw attention. "We have a missing trooper." She indicated Dawn's empty spot in line. Anakin sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose in such an Obi-Wan-like gesture Ahsoka almost laughed- until a shock wave shot out from the building, pushing down troopers, Ahsoka only just finding her footing.
Rex walked up to them and stared open mouthed at the building, where deactivated droids were slumped everywhere. "Did she just-" he pointed at the building, unable to finish his question.
"Yep," replied Ahsoka, smiling. "She just did."
Yeah, I know, you might have wanted to see more action, but I'm really bad at describing fight scenes, so bear with me here. I promise more fighting when they assault the real base. Anyway, I hope you liked this chapter! I'm sorry it took so long to get out, I've been working on another book. As always, thanks for reading and don't forget to like and comment!
May the Force be with you,
Jedi Master Swift.
