The group of 6had rushed forwards in the direction in which they had heard a loud and painful groan, stumbling over one another and coming to a large clearing. There was a large tree in their direct line of sight a beaten and bruised Jasper Jordan tied to it, his feet off the ground.
Margaret couldn't hear whatever it was the others were saying, her eyes were trained on the poor boy in front of her and her lip shook in fear at the sight of him. Instinctively, her feet had carried her forward along side Clarke, without even stopping to think and asses the situation.
However, suddenly she was thrusted back into reality with a harsh jolt as the ground below Clarke's feet completely deteriorated. It all happened far too fast to comprehend and without any time to think, Clarke had latched onto Margarets arm, pulling the brunette to the ground on her stomach, staring down at Clarke and the deadly spike that lay bellow.
Their eyes locked, both full of fear and uncertainty. Margaret was not strong enough to hold both of them, and could feel herself sliding closer and closer to the spikes beneath them, and her eyes began to swell with tears. She was not dying on her second day on the ground, especially not for Clarke Griffin.
"Let go."
Margarets had now become vividly aware of the situation she had found herself in, the adrenaline now beginning to ware off and her mind racing as her eyes darted between Clarke and her impending doom.
"I'm not dying for you, let go or we both die."
Her face was now turning a bright colour of red as she tried to keep both herself and Clarke from falling. Her body was covered in sweat and her grip on the Griffin girl began to loosen, as her panic grew more hostile.
"Let go of me!" Margaret now screamed.
Before either girl was hurt or killed, the group of boys had finally come to their senses and ran to their aid, lifting Clarke back onto the steady ground. Everybody seemed to be in shock, all breathing heavily, completely speechless.
Margaret fell back into Murphy, feeling his arms wrap around her protectively, she eased in his grip. As she slowed her breathing and grasped onto Murphy's arm tightly, Margaret's gaze hesitantly fell to Clarke, who was staring straight back at her in shock. Most likely because Margaret was very willing to let her die to protect herself, Margaret was rather shocked too by the way she reacted, but she did not regret it.
"You okay?" Finn asked the blonde softly as he helped her stand. Clarke closed her eyes and nodded, putting the recent events behind her immediately, and shaking off the fear she had felt; replacing it with determination. "Yeah. We need to get him down."
Finn and Murphy worked on cutting Jasper binds and helping the injured boy down from the tree. In the mean time, Clarke, Margaret, Bellamy and Wells stood around watching intently, telling them to hurry out of fear that they would be ambushed. Margaret stepped forward with her eye's trained on Jasper, and she grew confused as she assessed his wound from afar. Turning to the three other behind her, Margaret cleared her throat and spoke quizzically.
"There's a poultice on his wound."
At this revelation, Clarke stepped forward to see what Margaret was talking about.
"Medicine? Why would they save his life just to string him up as live bait?" The blonde questioned, looking at Margaret who only shrugged in response.
The teens were caught off guard when a low growl sounded in the distance, everybody whipping their heads around to find the source of the sound. Among the tall grass, they could see some sort of animal staring them down, getting ready to pounce. They all stumbled backwards out of fear.
