Humming a joyful tune in my head, I skipped outside my apartment room and down the hallway towards the elevators. It was usually quiet on Wednesdays, but for some reason, people were gathering up near the stairways and the elevators, talking amongst themselves in an excited manner. I was slightly confused but shrugged it off and decided to use the stairs due to the crowd lingering by the elevators. The walk down the stairs only took a couple of minutes; I was only on the third floor after all.
Once I reached the first floor, I realized why there was such a commotion in the apartment complex. There was a new security guard assigned to the complex, and he was a handsome young man. Standing at about 6 feet tall, the male had broad, comforting shoulders and a charming smile. I was tempted to go say hi to him, but the thought of being late to class held me back. A small frown formed on my face as I rushed past the gorgeous man being surrounded by girls and towards the bus stop that was near my house.
"Miss, watch out-" I heard a male voice call out and felt a tug on my arm, pulling me back from the road. As I tilted my head towards the voice, a loud honk blasted from a truck zooming by. "Are you okay? You almost got ran over by the truck."
I looked up to see the new security guard, his lovely brown eyes staring back at me. My cheeks started to heat up, and feeling embarrassed, I quickly adverted my gaze to somewhere else. "Y-yes, I'm fine. Thank you for saving me."
The guy flashed a bright smile and finally let go of me. "I'm Kim Seokjin, the new security guard for this apartment complex. I'll see you around then." With his quick introduction, he gave a polite bow and left, leaving me flustered.
I swiftly turned towards the bus stop and ran towards it, not wanting to miss the bus. It would be an hour before the next bus, and by then class would've ended. Luckily, I got there just in time to hop on the bus right before it left.
                              -
After a long day of doing class work and studying at the local library, I finally decided to head home to get some rest for another day of learning. As I was walking back to my apartment complex, I saw the security guard sitting on a small stool and looking up at the stars. His pale skin glistened in the moonlight, and his dark hair brushed gently against his eyebrows in perfect synchronization with the breeze. He turned towards me as I moved closer, and he gave me a sweet smile brighter than the night sky. I immediately blushed and adverted my gaze to somewhere else, not noticing that he was walking closer to me.
"Hey, Hana!" He called out, waving gleefully at me while calling me by the wrong name. "I was waiting for you to come so that I could walk you home." He jogged to my side and wrapped his muscular arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him. I looked up at him and opened my mouth to speak, but Seokjin leaned towards my ear. Flustered, I tried to move away as he whispered, "There's someone following you. Just go along with the act."
My heart started pounding when I heard what Seokjin said, fear suddenly rushing over me. I inched closer to the security guard and followed him as he made his way towards the apartment complex, peeking behind him every now and then. As soon as we entered the building, he let go of me and continued to look out the window to make sure the stranger was gone. After a few seconds, he turned towards me, a worried glint in his round eyes.
"I'm sorry I called you by the wrong name... you just looked like a Hana." He gave me a shy grin, which caused me to relax and chuckle.
"It's Y/N actually. Thanks for helping me. I didn't even know I was being followed." I bowed slightly to express my gratitude, wondering what would've happened if Seokjin wasn't there.
"This is the second time I've saved your life, Miss Y/N. You ought to treat me to some expensive food." Seokjin teased, giving me a playful wink. "But on a more serious note, you might want to start coming home earlier. And travel with someone at all times." He nodded towards the window, gesturing to how dark it was outside. "If you need an escort, I could always walk you home. Here, while we're at that topic, why don't I give you my number?"
I gave him my phone with no resistance whatsoever, watching his slender and beautiful fingers type his number in my phone. I found myself distracted by every single thing he did; how his plump lips pursed together when he smiled; how he would shrug his shoulders when he laughed; how his strong arm held me so tightly against him...
I shook myself out of my thoughts and took my phone from him once I checked that he was done giving me his contact information. "Thanks for the offer." I smiled and yawned, the countless hours of studying catching up to me.
"You should go rest now. Good night!" Seokjin said as he coaxed me over to the elevators, watching me until he checked that the I was on my way to my room safely. I tried to calm my pounding heart as I squeaked internally. I had the cute security guard's number!
