klexos -
the art of dwelling on the pastclasses soon ended and i started walking home. my mom should be home right now because she was off work at the moment.
i opened the door and saw my mom laying on the couch watching tv. i set my backpack down in my room and took off my shoes. then i came back out into the living room.
"i am going to go to a friends house for dinner tonight. is that okay?" i asked concerned she was going to say no.
she looked at me and it looked like she hasn't slept in two days and hasn't bothered to shower. she then turned back to the tv which was on some dumb game show.
"wow. look who finally made friends." she said as she snickered. i got up from the couch and just ignored what she said. i was going to go no matter what she said.
i worked on the homework i was given in some of my classes. six o'clock rolled around sooner than i thought and i put my shoes on, ready to leave. i said goodbye to my mom and she didn't even say anything back to me.
i closed the door behind me and i knew where i was heading. it didn't make me so upset that i wanted to cry but it just grew anger inside of me. it seemed like she cared less and less about me everyday. but there wasn't anything i could do about it.
i arrived to the house and opened the gate. before i was even able to knock, someone flew open the door. "bella! i didn't think you were going to come." it was ponyboy who answered. i just laughed at what he said and he opened the door for me to come in.
as soon as i walked in, all eyes were on me. i kind of just stood there awkwardly. "hey, it's bella!" two-but exclaimed. i laughed and gave a small smile to everyone. they soon went back to what they were doing.
i went to the kitchen where darry was. i decided to help him make chocolate cakes, since i guess that was what everyone liked the most.
we were talking for a bit then everything was done. "dinner is ready!" darry yelled throughout the house. all the boys came scrambling in to the dining room.
then i heard the door swing open and slam shut. nobody turned around except me.
he had brown hair and dark brown, almost black, eyes. he looked me up and down and smirked at me. hey he wasn't bad looking!
i went into there dining area and the mini feast began.i was getting thrown questions every two seconds. 'how was it in california? did you meet famous people? what friends did you leave behind?' were only some of the questions they were asking. i explained my whole story from how we were a perfect family to a not so perfect family. that included my dad, my mom, the people at my old school, and just a few other things here and there.
even though i just met them, i feel like i could trust them with almost anything and everything.
then i finally got to hear about their lives. the attention had been on me for awhile and i just wanted to know about them.
i mean i had a lot of questions myself. 'how did you guys find each other? where are your originally from? what is up with your parents?' those were some questions i wanted to know. then we all told funny and embarrassing stories about ourselves.
i found out everyone's name. ponyboy curtis, johnny cade, two-bit mathews, steve randle, dallas winston, sodapop curtis, and darry curtis. only soda and steve had girlfriends. the others were either looking for one or just didn't care.
i myself at the time, wasn't exactly looking for a boyfriend but i mean every here and there i would point out a cute guy. such as dallas winston but he was a 'bad boy.' plus ponyboy, he had looks as well.
we soon finished eating and went to the living room to eat cake. we all sat around watching mickey mouse and eating chocolate cake. everything felt nice.
