quidnunc -
one who always wants to know what is going on

today i got to finally leave the hospital. my days consisted of some of the gang coming to see me and dropping in to see how i was doing, eating the crappy food from the cafeteria, and either reading or thinking the rest of the day until i got tired.

i packed the few things i had into a little bag and changed into some jeans, a black shirt, and a jean jacket. man did it feel good to be out of those stupid gown things.

i decided i was going to stop by my place to see what exactly was going on there. i walked down the street and it was a really nice day out. the sun was shining with a little breeze.

i finally arrived home and i knocked, hoping no one would answer, because no one should be there. luckily, no one answered and i pulled out my key to open the door. as soon as i opened it there was broken glass and everything was everywhere.

i held my hand to my mouth not knowing what to do. i stepped in slowly going over to the phone. i decided to call the police. "911 what's your emergency?" a woman asked.

"uhm hi. my name is bella frey. i just got out of the hospital from the accident that recently occurred. do you think i could talk to officer dinge for a few minutes?" i asked looking around me.

"oh yes of course. i will transfer you." i nodded as if she could see me. "hello this is officer dinge speaking." he said. "hi officer dinge. it's me bella frey, the girl from the hospital." i said trying to step over the glass.

"oh yes hello bella. is everything okay?" he asked somewhat concerned. "well i just got released from the hospital today and i got home about ten minutes ago. i knocked to make sure no one was here and when i unlocked the door, everything is thrashed in the house." i explained looking around.

"i am on my way over with backup in case." he told me and ended the call. i put up the phone and looked around. i had no words. then i saw something in front of my moms room. it seemed to be a picture. i slowly walked over and picked it up.

it was a picture of me and my mom. when i was younger and i was riding my bike for the first time. my dad must have taken the picture. a single tear almost rolled down my cheek. i hugged the picture so tight.

then there was a slight knock on the door. i slowly walked over and opened the door quietly. it was officer dinge. i lead him inside and showed him. he explained to me how he told my mom she was going to jail and was going to court in about two or three weeks. he told her to be at the police department in about an hour and she must have done it then.

i walked into my room. clothes were all over, picture frames were broken, and then there was something so important to me in a million pieces on the floor. i stood there feeling like i had no breath.

it was a birthday present my dad gave me when i was six years old. it was a mini glass slipper, as he always told me i was his princess. i fell to my knees and picked up the broken pieces.

i sobbed quietly when suddenly officer dinge came in. he quietly sat next to me and gave me a side hug. my eyes burned and my cheeks were red. he soon got up and then helped me up and handed me a tissue.

i slightly wiped my eyes and walked out of the room. "so now what?" i asked as i threw the tissue away. "well your mother is going to jail for the rest of her life, and so is your uncle. so you can take the things you want and we can clean out the rest of it if you would like."

he told me while looking around. i nodded my head. he told me i should start packing a few things tonight and do the rest tomorrow and then find a place to stay for the rest of the night.

soon, him and his buddy left, leaving me in the pile of shattered items. i slowly trudged my way to my room and began packing.
