petrichor -
the smell outside after it has rained

i woke up to the sound of a loud horn. i looked around and it was still dark out. "it seems like this is going to take longer than expected." a man said over the speaker which was in each boxcar.

i decided to hang my feet out of the opening. i was holding on to the handle so i wouldn't fall out. it was so peaceful and the train was going a steady speed.

my hair was blowing around and it felt like that scene in a book. i always dreamed of being a writer. i would have loved to write my own book. man would that be amazing. i looked up to see all of the stars were out.

then someone went on the speaker once again. "how much longer we thinking, and why?" a guy asked. i stayed quiet to listen.

"we should arrive at about 12 this morning. it is taking so long because we got other trains ahead." the guy said then soon went off of the speaker.

i looked at my watch which read 9. i decided to fall asleep because i had nothing better to do.

i never fully fell asleep so i just looked out at the view. i read my watch and it said 11.

i decided to just stay up for the hour and wait until the train stopped. it didn't seem to be an hour but the train came to a stop which made me slide a little.

i saw a wooden sign that read windrixville. i grabbed my bag and looked around if anyone was watching. i soon ran into the meadow in front of me.

it was dark and i could barely see. i walked for probably almost an hour, or two. i saw a big building on a mountain. i walked up and it looked like a church.

i tried finding a door but they were all blocked off. i had to break some wood to get inside. i tried seeing if there was any kind of light i could turn on.

i somehow found one of the lights you bring with on a camping trip. i turned it on and i set my things down.

i went over to one of the benches and used my bag as a pillow. it was not comfortable one single bit but it had to do.

i didn't even sleep. i couldn't. my mind was going one-hundred miles an hour and i couldn't keep up. i knew i needed to rest but my eyes would not close.

i sat up staring out the window, which was actually wood pieces. all of the stars were still out and the moon was shining brighter than ever.

i couldn't stop thinking about the gang. would they even realize i was gone? probably not but who cared, i didn't. i then laid back down and soon my eyes closed.

*a week has passed by*

i have been in this church for about a week now. it was the same thing, all the time, and it got boring quick.

woke up, ate some bologna, read a little, went outside, and just did random things until it was dinner or i was tired.

i didn't know how long i was planning to stay, but i knew i couldn't go back just yet. then suddenly there was footsteps outside on the front porch.

i held onto my back pocket, i had my blade in there. "hello?" i called out waiting for a response. no one replied then the 'door', which i self crafted, swung open and it was a man. my uncle.

"hey uncle fred." i said surprised. "hey bella. what are you doing out here?" he asked looking around.

"i had to get out of where i was for a little. my mom and i have been having conflict." i said while looking at the ground.

"hm. that doesn't sound too good." he told me walking closer. he hugged me. i hugged him back, but when i tried letting go, he wouldn't.

"okay i'm better now." i told him trying to get out. next thing i knew, i was in a chokehold. i could barely breathe and then things got darker and darker.
