They dozed until the city sounds awakened her.
He was slower to wake, but he responded to her sweet kisses to his temple.
He looked at her, his hair a mess, the shadow of his beard giving his face a dangerous air.
Then he smiled, and she fell in love all over again.
“I have dreamed of watching the sunrise with you forever. It was perfect,” he said.
She agreed. “The first of many,” she promised him.
Ever practical, she asked the logical question.
“Now what?” she asked.
He laughed and hugged her close.
“Now, I have to go to work. And my guess is that you need to meet with that group of drunken maniacs and create your company,” Jin responded.
He saw when the reality hit her.
She was responsible for creating a whole new company.
He lifted her chin and said gently, “Baby, you could do this in your sleep. You will know exactly what to do. I cannot think of anyone more capable or qualified than you.”
Dae nodded, suddenly not so sure, but reading Jin's sincerity and the calm assurance he was right by her side.
He rolled from the bed and pulled her with him.
She looked around the room in distress, gathering pieces of clothing, cursing herself that she did not bring a change of clothes.
Jin went into the tiny bathroom and reappeared with a plush robe. He helped her into it, stealing kisses as he did.
“Baby! You have thought of everything,” she told him.
His eyes went dark and she felt the heat radiate from him.
“Not yet….” He said, his voice deep, causing shivers.
He gave her a hard kiss and led her out the door.
Once downstairs, they were discussing a shower and Jin was doing his damndest to convince her to join him.
He had almost persuaded her when they were interrupted by his housekeeper.
She carried a garment bag in one hand and a chic overnight bag in the other.
She did not appear the least bit surprised to see her employer standing barefoot with his pants slug low on his hips, belt undone and shirt unbuttoned escorting his guest from last night in a bathrobe and fuzzy boots.
Dae shot Jin a dirty look and he was honestly baffled by it. Those were questions for later, she decided.
The housekeeper gave her a beaming smile and stated “this is for you.”
It was Dae's turn to be baffled. Seeing her questions, the older woman placed the items in a chair nearby and handed Dae an envelope.
“These were sent by courier. He said these were for the lady then left,” she explained.
Jin shrugged his shoulders as Dae looked down at the card in her hand.
As the housekeeper turned to leave, Jin asked her to prepare breakfast for them and she left beaming.
Dae opened the envelope and sighed in relief when she saw Tae's bold scrawl.
I Knew you would still be there. I have $100 riding on you showing up in this outfit today. I bet Hoseok you were in too big a hurry to get to Jin to pack a bag. You are welcome. Now hurry up and get your ass to work! We have an empire to build!!
Jin laughed when he saw the letter, then reluctantly agreed to allow Dae to shower alone….this time.
She dressed in the things Tae sent over, exquisite as always.
She stopped stock still when she walked into the dining room. There was Jin, already pouring over the paper in a pinstripe 3-piece suit.
She walked to him and straightened his tie.
“It's not fair really,” she said, “for a man to be this beautiful.”
In response, he dragged her into his lap and kissed her until they were interrupted again. This time the staff stood wide eyed watching the boss kiss a woman senseless.
They laughed, Jin easing her into her own seat.
“Pity,” he whispered, his eyes sparking with naughty promises.
While breakfast was served, they fell into old habits easily.
They picked apart reports and projections. Dae asked advice about basics for her company. They were both utterly content.
They lingered at the table, savoring their time as long as they could.
Finally, Dae's phone rang and it was Tae saying he had set her first appointment and was on his way to get her.
Jin nodded, glancing at his phone full of messages and missed calls.
He took her in his arms once more and kissed her.
“May I see you tonight?” he asked, “A real date, somewhere nice.”
She quickly agreed, “Anywhere, it does not matter where, as long as we are together,” she said.
He walked her out to the car and stood watching until it was gone from sight.
He missed her already.
His own car pulled up immediately and he slid inside, pulling out his phone.
The call connected and Jin greeted the man on the other end.
“Dad, can we have lunch today? I need to ask you something important,” he said, allowing himself to imagine the future.
He was preparing to start it right now.
His father agreed, his tone indicating he already knew Jin's question. Better yet, he sounded happy as he picked Jin's favorite spot for lunch..
Jin sighed in relief. This was already a fantastic day! Letting his thoughts drift, he knew it would be an even better night.
He was lost in his memories of Dae in the early morning light, naked and happy in his arms, when his text tone rudely intruded.
He looked down at his phone, thinking maybe she was remembering as well, but the caller display "unknown number".
Then as he read the message, he felt both fear and anger.
