Evangeline's P.O.V

Getting inside the car, I tried my best to calm my raging heart inside of my chest.

Rico just saw me getting all cozy with Abram. I just hope he doesn't tell Dad or else I'll be in big trouble.

"Is that why you wanted to go to that coffee shop so bad all of a sudden?" He sneered, catching me completely off guard by the change of his tone.

Long gone the smile of the hint of silliness in his voice. His behavior completely switched, making me frown as I thought to myself, what is to you?

"It's not what you think it is, Rico. He just happened to be there" I explained, with my eyes rolling subtly as I attempted to wipe my dress with a tissue.

"Oh really? I wonder how your father's going to react when he hears about it when he clearly warned you yesterday to stay away from him" he sassed, making me halt as I inhaled sharply.

" You surely don't have to worry about how my father is going to react because that would be my business," I responded, without stuttering, making myself taken back from the sudden sass.

Well, if it's not Miss Evangeline finally standing up for herself.

He glanced back to me for a second as he was driving, and just like me was shocked as well to hear me talk back like that which I never did before as usually I let them say what they want and I would stay silent, keeping my objections and answer to myself, but this time, words came out of my mouth before I could even stop them.

" Oh I see, you're also getting rebellious now, Evangeline. Telling lies and answering back" he replied, making me look out of the window not wanting to argue with him but what bothered me is that what is it to him? It's not just he's only my bodyguard or driver because he's my friend too, can't I just live my life for once?

"Your father will definitely hear from this" he added, making me roll my eyes trying to show him that I was not bothered when deep down, my heart was already hammering with fear of how my father would react.

For the rest of the journey, none of us said a thing until we reached the destination.

I climbed out of the car as fast as I could to avoid exchanging small talks from him but he definitely has a different plan since once I stepped out, he quickly got out, following me.

"Evangeline, I'll come pick you up. And best of luck" He stated with a smirk, making me stare at him in disbelief, but nonetheless, I stayed silent as I continued walking inside the orphanage.

You just dug your own grave, Evangeline.

Striding inside, I greeted the kids with enthusiasm as I tried to push down whatever just happened and started smiling as if my anxiety wasn't even almost crippling me.

The kids were too busy playing but when they noticed my presence, they ran giving me a hug and making me smile and forget about my worries for a short time.

"There you are. Okay, I'm going now and take care of the kids please, Eva" Anna exclaimed as she hastily grabbed her bag from the stand and rushed outside after giving me a hug.

"Well, I guess it's just us today huh?" I mumbled, making them giggle.

Abram's P.O.V

"I believe that by signing the contract with us both parties can benefit from it not only by getting more publicity but also more customers" Edward, one of my workers explained, trying to crack the deal while I watched him give his hundred percent.

Despite trying hard to focus further, I can't help but let my mind drift away. I just want to get out of here and finish the paperwork that's piled up on my desk so that I can sleep tonight but I can't do that as this meeting is important for us as well as for the company.

Taking my phone that sat in front of me to check the time, my hand fisted below the table, and teeth gritted together as soon as my eyes fell upon the date.

It's their death anniversary tomorrow. How did I forget about it? How could I forget the day, their bodies were delivered right into my doorstep.

How could I forget the day my world came down crumbling right in front of my eyes?

"Meeting dismissed!" I hissed, making Zach and Nicholas snap their head to my direction, with confusion written all over their faces.

" Sir, this meeting is important and we just have to show some files and we'll be done" my assistant tried to reason out, but long gone my sanity and ability to listen to anyone right now.

"I said the meeting is fucking dismissed!" I barked, making everyone grab their things and head towards the door, while Mr. Brown, the CEO of the company we're trying to make a deal with looked so confused but he got up anyway.

"Yo, what the f*ck?" Nicholas inquired, looking so confused with my sudden change of mood but I stayed silent, rooted to my seat, trying my best to not wreck everything that was in front of me.

"Abram, do you know how important this meeting is and you just messed it up" Zack cut in, and again I didn't bother to answer him.

Letting out a sigh, I stood up and threw the laptop that was sitting a while ago in front of against the wall, making it break into pieces, taking both of them completely off guard as they looked at one another, exchanging confused glances amd for a millisecond, I actually felt bad for them as they had to deal with my outbursts but then I pushed it away and let my arrogance take control of me.

"Sir? Everything alright?" Edward questioned as he poked his head inside, looking completely terrified.

Well, my sister's head was delivered into my doorstep along with my parents sliced body pieces, exactly five years ago, so tell me exactly, am I supposed to feel alright?
