Chapter 31

Abram's P.O.V

It's been exactly four days since the last time I spoke with Evangeline. I've been trying to maintain distance with her by ignoring her calls and messages and I know it's completely childish to do such a thing. But what can I do? I feel so guilty and frustrated with myself.

Why did I have to change my plan and include her into it? Why did I have to stoop into their level and do the exact same thing that they did?

Zach already gave Evangeline the papers and it's just a small matter of time that Alex realizes that I own 50% shares of his company which means I would have rights and ownership over the company.

A company that's already going to losses and would go bankrupt at any time soon, all because of me because I'm the one who's been taking all the deals and contracts of Alex by showing and promising the other companies better profits without him knowing but I know he's smart enough to find out about it soon.

Not only that, as I knew that his company would soon crumble down and Alex would have to pay the shareholders, instead of paying me, I wrote down on the contract that he would have to get his only daughter to work under me, which I know he'll rather die than do that.

"Hey, you coming tomorrow to the event?" Nicholas questioned, as he entered my study along with Sebestian and Zack.

Things between me and Zack are not good as before since Evangeline came. He doesn't support my plan and so, do I but there's nothing that can be done now.

"Yeah, I would be attending it" I mumbled as I re-read the messages that Evangeline sent over the last two days, asking if I'm alright and what's wrong with me but it all stopped on the third day.

She's probably tired, sending messages and seeing that all of them are seen. I'm such a d*ck for doing this to her but I can't just go on normally, knowing how I would ruin their lives.

" Your girl would be there too" Nicholas stated as he smirked at me, wiggling his eyebrows, making Sebestian chuckle and Zack to snort.

"She's not my girl" I muttered, still reading the messages when Zack spoke up.

"Yeah, she's not his because if she was then he wouldn't be doing all of this shit, knowing that bringing down Alex would also bring down and break her." He exclaimed, making me glare at him, wanting to smack his face so hard that he won't ever forget about it.

"Come on, man. Stop" Sebestian cut in still smiling just like Nicholas. Why on earth am I friends again with this stupid ass*s?

"By the way, the only reason she would be going because of her father. Alex wants to parade what type of gem he got. He's basically using his own daughter to attract men that can help him at this moment where he needs money" Nicholas stated, making my blood boil upon hearing his words.

This guy really has a fetish of using people for his own benefits. He didn't even spare his own daughter.

"Wait how the f*ck do you know all of this shit?" Sebestian questioned Nicholas, fully confused just like Zack.

"Well... Abram told me to send a rat in their house to know what's happening inside" Nicholas answered, making Sebestian raise his eyebrow, looking really amazed and impressed while I glare at Nicholas. I told him to keep it as a secret but just like always he had to open his mouth.

"And you're telling she's not your girl?" Sebestian jokingly questioned as he smirked at me, while I just rolled my eyes thinking of any excuses to say but none came into my mind.

"I have to go now, gotta check the parcels we got today" Nich cut in, as he got up from his seat, making Zack too.

" I'll come along" he said as they both left leaving me and Sebestian alone.

"What do you really want from her?" He inquired, the second Nich and Zack were out of the room.

Shrugging my shoulders, I looked down at the table where my phone sat, as I prayed silently for her to call me, but I know she won't.

"On one hand, you want to get back to her father, not caring even if you hurt her in the process, and on another hand, you sent a rat into their house just so that you could get updates about her. What do you really want, Abram?" He questioned, while I stayed silent. I'm confused as you are.

"I don't know man. It's really complicated. I'm not gonna lie, I want her but I can't have her" I replied, making him frown at me.

" Why can't you have her? Of course you can have her" he exclaimed, making me shake my head in disagreement.

"Do you think she'll accept me after knowing I would be the reason for her father's nightmare? After knowing that I'm a killer?" I questioned him desperately.

" Of course she will. Make your love for her to see how much you're willing to give everything up just for her." He responded.

" But what if she finds out about the contract?" I questioned, making him smile.

" How about you hide it from her? As long as she doesn't know what's written inside it. You're good." He replied with a smile, making me nod my head at him.

"Make your move tomorrow and I know she won't even say no to you seeing that she feels the same" he stated, making me raise my eyebrow.

" How do you know she feels the same? It's not even a month she knows me" I exclaimed.

" Don't let the time fool you, Abram. Time is just a stupid barrier that comes between love. It fools you by making you think that it's too early and making you back out. Don't make the same mistake I did, Abram" he explained as he looks down, while I nodded my head.

I can't say that I already fell in love with her but I can say that I want to experience love with her.
