Evangeline's P.O.V

"Are you alright?" I typed after so long of contemplating whether to text him again despite him leaving me on read for the last two days.

Despite my brain telling me to just stop, my heart couldn't. I have to know what happened to him all of a sudden. Everything was good until that day. What happened to him?

He's been ignoring me and I don't even know why. Did I do something wrong?

Why does all of this have to happen when I finally decide to open my heart for him. To embrace something for the very first, that's foreign and new for me and he has to act this way but still, here I am pathetically waiting for his reply.

Maybe, I should just stop. I did my part and now I'll wait for him to do his part. At least he can't ever say that I'm not giving any effort.

Sitting by the window, I let my gaze fall outside to the gardener cutting the bushes and trimming the grass.

Opening the window to be able to get some fresh air, I let the cool breeze in, brushing against my hair, making me feel so refreshed.

"Hey, baby" my mother greeted as she let herself inside, making me smile at her as she sits beside me in front of the window.

"Get ready, we're going shopping today" she stated with a huge excited smile on her face while I looked at her so confused.

She knows all very well how I dislike going shopping with her because of the time she wastes.

"Why, mom?" I inquired, making her smile even wider.

"We have to attend an event" she answered, again making me frown.

"I clearly told dad that I don't want to attend any more events. I feel so out of place there" I mumbled while she took my hand into hers.

" That's why we're going shopping so that we can make you look even prettier" she gushed, with her eyes sparkling with happiness.

This woman loves shopping more than anything else.

"Mom, I don't wanna go," I muttered, not in the mood, making her look at me concerned.

" What happened and why don't you want to go?" She inquired, while I shrugged my shoulders in response.

Imitating me, "what is that?" She questioned once again.

" I don't want to go to such a place where I feel so inferior and where everyone there is just flaunting their wealth. I feel so uncomfortable, mom" I explained, making her nod her head, and just when I thought she agreed, I was wrong.

"You have to come along, Eva. It's your father's order. He's already not in a good mood, it's not wise to anger him even more" she explained, with her smile that was while ago plastered on her vanish away.

"Why do I have to go?" I asked, feeling so helpless. I can't even go on my own decisions. Great!

"It's for business purposes" she answered and before I could even ask further questions, she dragged me into my closet, to make me change my pajamas.

"Get ready, I'll be waiting downstairs, okay?" She stated, placing a kiss on my forehead as she left my room.

Well, I should get ready then.

"This one?" My mother questioned as she shoves a dress in front of my face, making me scrunch my face in disgust by looking at the blue dress that had ruffles. It kinda looked weird and ugly but I couldn't even tell her that since the saleslady was right beside us listening.

Shaking my head no for the millionth time, the lady that was helping us sighed just like my mom.

"I want something simple" I stated, making the lady nod her head as she smiled like she just hit the jackpot.

Coming back after a few seconds, she showed me a long champagne-colored dress.

"Try this one" she stated, which I obeyed willingly with a smile.

Once inside the dressing room, I stripped out my clothing and slid on the soft silk dress that felt heaven against my skin.

It has spaghetti straps and has a long slit on my right thigh. It's tight around the chest area with a deep neckline and a little bit flowy below. It shows skin more than I want but overall, I love it.

Getting outside, I showed the dress to my mom which she nodded her head in agreement as well the lady.

"I'm taking this one" I stated, with a smile.

Now, I just wish that this event would be different and a lot better than the last one.
