Evangeline's P.O.V

The day at the orphanage was normal and the same as any other day that consisted of feeding the kids, playing with them, and making them take a nap.

The whole time, I kept on checking my phone, waiting for one specific person to call or send me a message. I don't know exactly what I want but I'm sure all I want is to let out the feeling inside of me.

The feeling of not being able to think of anything except for him. The feeling that is overwhelming that I never want it to end. The feeling that is so foreign for me but yet I can't imagine myself not to cherish it.

But I know that I have to be patient and be mature to take a no for an answer. After all, I can't really expect everything to go on my way.

As I cleaned the kitchen counter and Anna stir soup on the stove, the doorbell going off surprised us both as Anna excused herself to check who it was as I stayed behind continuing wiping the countertop, humming to myself softly.

"Eva, come here please" Anna exclaimed from the main room, making me frown as I paddled towards her.

"Yes, Anna?" I answered, looking between her and a guy that looks so familiar but I couldn't exactly point out where I saw him.

"He wants to talk to you" Anna stated as she left the room, returning to the kitchen, leaving me all alone with the guy.

"Please come and have a seat" I offered while he shook his head no, smiling at me.

" No, I'm good. Plus, I'm just here to give you this" he answered as he extended his hand that got a file on it.

Frowning, I took it as I waited for him to tell me what it was and why he's giving it to me.

"This is for your father. Can you give it to him?" He inquired, while I was confused as ever.

" If this is for my father then why are you giving it to me? Why can't you just give it directly to him?" I questioned, while he just chuckles.

" This is just contract papers that your father needs to urgently sign. Don't think about it too much. Just give it to your father or just place it on his desk. He'll know right away what files these are" he explained as he turned around to leave but I stopped him.

"Have we met before? You look so familiar" I stated, making him smirk.

" You probably just saw me with your father. We're very close to one another" he answered, making me just nod my head as he proceeded outside.

Going back to the kitchen, I placed the file on the countertop, reminding myself mentally to pick it up before I leave. It must be really important and I don't want to mess it up.

Seeing that it's time to feed the kids some snacks, I headed towards the backyard where all of them were playing by themselves.

"Kids, time for some snacks, come on" I exclaimed and thankfully they listened and headed inside one by one.

As I led them into the kitchen, Anna stopped me.

"Go now. Your ride is already waiting outside for you" she stated but I disagreed.

" No it's alright. I'll help you feed them then I'll leave" I replied, making her shake her head no.

"No, I can do it. Go on, Eva" she answered, making me agree.

Picking up the file, and hugging her. I headed outside to see that as usual Rico was waiting.

Opening the door for me, I climbed in, and once again the silence was thick around us but I made no effort to break it as he.

Reaching home, I climbed out with the files clutched on my hand as I paddled inside towards my father's study to find it empty and files scattered around the desk messily.

He's been working too hard these days and from what I heard from his and mother's conversation the other day, the company was suffering losses and the deals were going down as partners were backing down one by one.

Striding inside, I placed the file on top of the pile of other files, careful enough not to touch anything as my father really hates it if someone touches his belongings.

Making sure that the file is in place, I turn around to leave but my hand accidentally knocks the pile of files, making every single on the files, including the file that I was given to give my father, to fall on the floor.

Panicking and with my hands shaking, I hastily picked all the files from the floor randomly as I stacked them as it was before but only this time they weren't in order just like they were in but there's nothing wrong with that right?

Father's already facing a crisis with the company. I don't want to add more. But little did I know, I just added fuel on the fire.
