Chapter One
VisitorsStephanie Elise
"Steph anak, is it okay kung maglate lunch tayo today?" Tanong ni Mommy.
"Sure, Mom. But may I ask why?"
"We'll fetch someone at the airport. He'll land at..." Tumingin si Daddy relo niya ag saka sinabing, "around 1PM."
I nodded at them but there are still questions linging in my mind. Who is that someone? Is he a relative? Is he a family friend? Is he a kid? Is he a teenager? Is he kind of old? I refrained from asking those questions as I don't want to appeal interested on whoever the visitor is.
"We'll eat out, pwede ka namin balikan na lang after fetching him since the Mall is this way, so that you can take your time getting ready." Sabi ni Mommy.
"Okay po. Ring me if you're near home." I said before kissing my parents a goodbye and went back up in my room.
Hindi ko alam kung bakit pero ayaw maalis sa isip ko nung someone na 'yon. I find it weird because I don't even know him yet he kept running on my mind.
I decided to wear a sweatshirt and a skinny jeans paired with my white sneakers since it's already mid June and the weather's slightly warmer here in Vancouver.
I looked at my wrist watch and it's almost three in the afternoon, might be the reason why I'm quite hungry. I wonder who that guy is. Is he the same age as me? Or is he a friend of my parents? All my questions earlier are still the questions in my mind right now!
Maya-maya nagring ang phone ko, a sign na malapit na sila Mommy at kasama na nila ang 'someone' na sinundo sa airport. Lumabas na ako ng bahay dala ang susi at saka naghintay.
Huminto ang sasakyan namin sa tapat ko, I was about to open the door but someone opened it for me, siguro ay ang 'someone' na sinundo nila.
Pagpasok ko, he immediately greeted me.
"Hi. I'm Aron Xavier."
"Hello, Xavier. I'm Stephanie Elise. It's nice to meet you."
"It's nice to meet you, too uhm.. Elise? Should I call you Elise?"
"Yeah sure."
Awkward air goes in. After that short greeting, everything's awkward.
"Anak, do you remember your Tito Xaiver and Tita Allisson? Aron is their son." Sabi ni Mommy.
I remember them, they are one of my parents' closest friends. But the last time I saw them was when I was thirteen, and it seems like Xavier and I are of the same age, but why isn't he with them that time? It was somehow a reunion of my parents and their friends though.
"Yes, Mommy. But why didn't I met him before?" I asked.
"He was at school that time."
"But I remember that day was a Saturday."
It's true though, I can clearly remember things and I know and I am pretty sure, that day when I met my parents' friends is a Saturday.
"Well, he studies in a boarding school."
"At a young age?!"
A boarding school? Really? At a young age?
"Yes, anak."
Wow, that's awesome. I glanced at him and all I can say is, this guy's impressive!
Arianna Noelle
I am currently waiting for a "visitor" from the Philippines here at the airport. I have my parents with me but they chose to stay inside the car instead of be the one to wait here and hold this placard for their visitor. The visitor seems young though, based on his name.
