Just like Jimin said, they were informed that they were about to go through another round of elimination, so they had to be on their best behaviour.
Yoongi wasn't sure whether or not he should be reassured. Jimin did say that he was safe, but Yoongi was afraid that might change before Jimin makes the cut.
"So who do you think is going to get cut this time?" Jungkook asked, and Yoongi shrugged. "I don't know, I think around half?"
Jungkook let out a whine. "This is so nerve wracking!"
Just then, the door slid open and Doyoon came in, getting the attention from everyone in the room.
"As you may be aware." Doyoon started. "There will be a cut of half of the contestants in this room, narrowing it down to around 13. The cut will reflect how well you are suited to the responsibilities of a King and to see how well you can deal with people."
The Alphas in the looked at each other in confusion, not sure as to what Doyoon was implying.
Doyoon smiled at bit at their reaction, but there was a glint to his eye.
"We'll be working at a orphanage."
"Hey, isn't this where we live?" Yoongi pointed out, and Jungkook immediately squished his face against the window of the transportation vehicle they were on.
"Woah, it actually is!" Jungkook exclaimed.
They had departed in a series of black cars, that each contained three contestants. They were told that they were to spend a week at an orphanage to help look after the children. They say that it is easiest to see how one treats people when with children.
Since there were a lot of them, they were dispersed to different orphanages throughout the country, and it was by sheer luck that Yoongi and Jungkook came to their hometown.
"Do you think we'd be able to say high to our families?" Jungkook wondered, and Yoongi shrugged but he had a small smile on his lips. "If we have free time I suppose, maybe we could ask Doyoon when we get there."
As their car pulled up to a building, the three of them got their suitcases and lugged them up the stairs to knock on the door.
Shortly after, a woman opened the door, and seeing that it was the guests that they were expecting, she smiled warmly at them and invited them inside.
"Welcome to our orphanage!" She said, and Yoongi looked around the building. It definitely wasn't worn down, but it wasn't in the best conditions, as Yoongi could see some paint peeling off the wall. The orphanage should really get some more funding from the kingdom.
"My name is Eunji, and I'll be responsible for you wellbeing during your time here." Eunji turned around and led them through a series of small corridors. "You three will be sleeping in this room. It's not as good as where you sleep in the palace, but-,"
"It's perfectly fine, thank you." Kai interrupts her, flashing a kind smile. Eunji stutters a bit, a flush on her cheeks as she nods and leaves to let them organize their things.
"I call top bunk!" Jungkook yells, and before any of them can move, he had already thrown the bag in the top bunk and vaulted himself up. Yoongi and Kai just looked at each other before sprinting towards the other top bunk.
Yoongi failed.
"Curse you and your long legs." Yoongi spat, massaging his hip where Kai and butted him into the wall in order to climb the ladders. Kai only laughed gleefully down at him, and Yoongi resigned for his defeat and lay down under Kai's bed.
"If I lay under Kooks bed he might pee on me." Yoongi muttered, and Jungkook yelled in offence. "I'm an adult Hyung!"
After they settled down, they decided to go and walk around, seeing as this was their home for the next week.
"Do you guys like kids?" Kai asked, and Jungkook nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah! We had a neighbour with adorable kids, and I would sometimes babysit them when the parents were out."
Jungkook nudged Yoongi, looking at him like he expected him to contribute. Yoongi let out a grunt at that. "They're okay."
Jungkook laughs at that. "Yoongi hyung still hasn't forgot the time a kid sneezed onto his clothes, and got a huge ton of snot and slobber on him." Kai let out a big laugh after hearing Yoongi's misfortune.
Yoongi glared at Jungkook. "Hope a kid pukes on you today." He hissed with venom, and Jungkook stuck his tongue out at him.
They begun to hear chatter, and the sounds of children playing. Continuing foreword, they came upon a circular room with windows on the top so sunlight could come streaming down. In the circle, numerous kids were running around in circles playing tag, building castle in a sandbox, and crying so hard snot dropped down their faces.
Yoongi felt himself cringe, but nonetheless helped a woman clean up the still shrieking 2 year old. She gave him a look of thanks before she rushed out to change his diaper.
One of the ladies took a bell and rung it, and all the kids immediately dropped what they were playing with and rushed towards the kitchen, where Yoongi could see a long table to fit all of them.
While the kids were getting their lunch, the three of them helped clean up the dirty parts, like thrown clothes, overturned baskets, more snot, but not the toys as they explained that many kids went crazy when they found out their little treasure had been touched.
"Little demons they are." One of them said, but they had little smiles on their faces, and Yoongi's guessed that the children, despite being as rambunctious as they were, grew on them.
But they ain't going to swing Yoongi that easily.
After the kids were finished eating, it was the time for staff to take turns eating. One group to supervise and another to eat.
The food wasn't fancy or luxurious as the palace, but it felt wholesome, as they staff of the orphanage got to know the three boys.
Yoongi doesn't think it's so bad anymore. The staff, he means. The kids...not so much.
