For the first time, Yoongi and Jungkook was their parents dressed up. In the Min household, there were rarely times where they could wear a dress, as being poor didn't get you invited to a lot of parties.
"Oh my gosh my darlings you both look so handsome!" Their Eomma gushed, pulling the two of them close and hugging them tightly.
When she released them, she smiled warmly, and pinched their cheeks, the brother grumbling a bit in embarrassment of being treated by a child.
But it was okay, because they haven't seen each other for months.
After their mother released them, their father stepped up and patted them on the back before hugging them briefly.
"I'm proud." He says simply, but Yoongi and Jungkook knew what he meant.
They lead their parents through the ball, leading them to Kai's family. They introduced their families, before leaving them to chatter excitedly among themselves.
"Haven't seen Eomma and Appa this happy for a long time." Jungkook commented, watching their parents laugh and talk about things they can't hear about.
"Same." Yoongi agreed. Beside them, Kai looked a little sad. "I told my parents that I'd probably get eliminated tonight. I told them that the prince and I never really had any chemistry, unlike you Yoongi." Yoongi smiled grimly. Kai has no idea what kind of chemistry they have.
"Um is it a good time to mention I'm also gonna get eliminated?" Jungkook spoke up, making Yoongi's head swivel in his direction so fast it cracked.
"Oh, yeah, because of Taehyung right?" Jungkook nodded, blushing slightly. "He asked me what I thought about him and I told him that he was the most wonderful person I've ever had the pleasure of meeting." He broke off when Kai cackled loudly, slapping his back hard.
"You really gone and done it didn't you? When's the wedding?" Jungkook blushed and punched him in the shoulder.
"Oh! This means we'll have to leave Yoongi all alone!" They turn to look at Yoongi who was looking off into the distance at some unknown object, distracted and daydreaming.
"Uh, Yoongi?" Yoongi seemed to wake up from his daydreaming, looking towards his brother and friend with a slightly guilty expression.
"What?" He replied dumbly, having no idea what they were talking about. "You alright? You were kinda spacing out for a sec." Kai said, worry lacing his features. "No, I'm fine. What were we talking about?"
Kai and Jungkook looked at each other. "Well, we were talking about how there's a pretty good chance that we'll be eliminated later tonight." Jungkook says, Yoongi gawking at him. "Huh? Why?"
"It's because of the circumstances, you know. Me not interacting much with the prince, Jungkook having Taehyung, all that Jazz." Kai explained, and Yoongi nodded lethargically, as if the words were slow to get through his head.
"I-oh."
Right around that time, Yoongi and Jungkooks parents beckoned them over, and Yoongi had a heart attack when he sees Taehyung and Jimin standing there, waiting with his mother with wide eyes.
Bidding Kai a goodbye, they walk towards their family where the Queen and her two sons were standing.
As the Queen and their parents conversed, Yoongi could see Jimin glancing around nervously, biting his lips. Taehyung on the other hand, was acting normally, listening to the talking going on between them.
Yoongi chooses to ignore Jimin and focused back onto the conversation.
After a few minutes of talking, the Queen excuses herself, saying she has to have conversations with the other contestants before dinner. Jimin and Taehyung followed her, Jimin giving a glance towards Yoongi before leaving.
Yoongi and Jungkook lead their parents to the refreshment table, eating some sweets before dinner arrives.
When dinner arrives, Yoongi could see his Eommas eyes sparkling at the food in front of her. Their parents ate slowly, savouring every bite because this was possibly the most luxurious dinner they have ever been to.
On the other hand, Jungkook and Yoongi were already used to the rich food.
After that, the families were all escorted by maids and butlers to their rooms, while the rest of the competitors were asked to stay.
"This is it." Dae whispered, jiggling his arms nervously. "I don't wanna leave."
Yoongi wanted to laugh. He'd gladly give up his spot to the other.
He could see Minjae flexing his arms smugly, he eyes trained on Jimin with dark eyes.
"As you all know, I'll be conducting another elimination tonight. I will call out three names. If your name is not called, that means you have been eliminated and can retire to your rooms or visit your family." The tension in the room was palpable, the Alpha's eagerly waiting to hear who will be staying.
"Park Minjae." Minjae grinned haughtily.
"Gwan Dae." Dae gave a little wiggle of excitement.
Jimin looked straight at Yoongi. "And Min Yoongi."
Yoongi felt his stomach drop. This wasn't supposed to happen. He was supposed to be eliminated and go home.
He wasn't supposed to suffer anymore.
He could see Minjae's clenched hands, his head swivelling to stare at Yoongi. He stared at Yoongi for a few seconds, before cocking his head to the side.
Yoongi could hear someone gasp; was that Jimin?
Out of the corner of his peripheral view, he could see a sudden flash. It took him a few seconds to register that it was Jimin, running towards him.
It was strange, the way everything seemed to flow in slow motion. He could barely register Jimin screaming, "Yoongi!" before barrelling into him and knocking him to the ground.
Then the window shattered.
