It's only been two days since they've arrived at the orphanage, and Yoongi had suffered through four temper tantrums, two broken shelves, and kid who bruised his legs, and a case of missing brownies.
It was exhausting work, but the environment was starting to grow on him. But it didn't change the fact that Yoongi went to bed dead and woke up dead.
Jungkook and Kai were a different story.
Somehow, they were able to be energetic 25/8, singing with the kids, reading them bedtime stories, helping them make castles out of legos, stepping on a Batman head LEGO, which Yoongi could tell that it hurt like bitch.
But Jungkook still somehow managed to joke about the whole situation, even when his foot was bleeding from two punctures. And so Yoongi let Kai and Jungkook take care of the rowdy kids.
There was a group of children ranging from the ages of five to 10 who were quieter or more gentle like than the others, and they preferred listening to music and quietly building castles than the kids who liked to scream and run around.
When Doyoon came around in the third day to check on them, the Jungkook took this chance to ask Doyoon if they could go and see their parents. Doyoon has disagreed at first, saying that the purpose of them being at the orphanage was to show responsibility, and that seeing their parents was not related.
He eventually relented when Jungkook said that they'll visit them briefly during their lunch break. Fortunately, Eunji told Doyoon that all three of them were very hard working, and that they deserved something like this.
Jungkook had hugged the living life out her, to which Eunji just patted his head awkwardly, but there was small smile on her lips.
When lunch rolled around, the three of them left the orphanage, and started to walk in the direction of Yoongi and Jungkooks home. They had invited Kai to come with them, eager to show Kai where they live.
After walking a few minutes, Jungkook pointed excitedly to their house, where they could see their mother cleaning up the dust on porch.
"Eomma!" Jungkook called and took off in a sprint. There mother flinched at the sound, almost not believing it when she sees Jungkook running towards her with his brother and another young man behind him.
She let out an 'Oof,' when Jungkook barrelled into her, looking startled, but her mouth split into a wide grin once she realized who he was.
"My darling! How you here? You didn't get kicked out did you?" Jungkook laughed and shook his head. "No! We're still in. The orphanage we were working at was close to home, so we came!"
She patted his head affectionally and turned her attention to Kai. "Who's this? Is he your friend?"
Kai bowed at her. "My name is Kim Jongin, but you can just call be Kai." Their mother beamed and patted Kai's cheek affectionally. "My, what a handsome young man!" Kai's cheeks flushed at the praise, his body straightening up smile shyly at their mother. "Thank you for your compliment eomeonim."
"And what a polite boy too."
Yoongi groaned a bit at his mother's antics. "Compliment him any more Eomma, and we would run out of time."
Inside, their father was sitting by the fireplace, looking up when he hears the door opening. "I heard some voi-," he started to say, but when he caught sight of his sons, he beamed.
"My sons!" Then his smile fell. "You didn't get kicked did you?" Yoongi shook his head grinning. "Not yet Appa."
Unfortunately, their lunch break was only 45 minutes, and they had to walk back. Eomma didn't mind, saying that at least they came to visit.
Back at the orphanage, there were several kids crying and the staff were rushing around frantically. "What happened?" Yoongi asked, a bit of worry showing on his face.
Eunji rushed towards them, her breath coming in pants. "One of the kids threw up, and suddenly there was like this chain reaction. We managed to get the other kids not to look at the ones vomiting, but they keep crying for some reason."
Yoongi cringed upon hearing that. This was worst than a kid blowing their nose on his shirt. This was a whole other level of unsanitary.
"If you could help us just clean up the mess, that would be fantastic." She continued, twisting the hem of her dress when of the kids shrieks. The three of them nodded and she rushed off to help one of the other staff to restrain a kid.
"How did this turn to shit this fast?" Kai wondered in amazement, soaking in the sights of screaming, running, and puking children.
Yoongi does not know.
For the rest of the afternoon, they ran around rounding up children, cleaning up the messes they left behind, and and put the children to bed. And yes, it took that long.
When the house was finally silent, they took that chance to have a quick meal, and Eunji approached them to apologize.
"I'm so very sorry as to what happened today." She said, bowing at them in apology. "This wasn't supposed to happen. Yoongi shook his head. "It's alright, it's what we kind of expected when we were to come here." Eunji looked relieved that they didn't get mad. "Then I'll leave you to finish your meal."
When she left, the three of them ate quickly, before washing their dishes and going to their bunkers.
"Today was..." Yoongi sighed, his face scrunching up as he recalled today's events. "Gross." Jungkook added, and Yoongi laughed. "It's hard to realize that we have two more days before we go back. I have to admit but this place kind of grew on me."
"Yeah." Kai whispered from his top bunk.
It didn't take all three of them very long to fall asleep, worn out completely by today's events.
