ELPIS'S POV
"Hello, daughter. What's the meaning of this? Why did you have to bring all these people back to our home? You could just come back on your own. You're not married to the emperor. You just become this useless princess concubine for nothing in return." Grace's father didn't even greet me. Even as a princess, I am in higher status that a fucking duke!
Forgive me for my word of choice.
Virtra, my imperial consort was about to say something when I grabbed hold of her wrist. I want to see how my noble consort handle herself when she's facing this kind of situation. Will she choose her family or me? I know it's something that I shouldn't be forcing her to do. But I need to know where is her loyalty.
"Father, as the duke, you have to set an example for your servants. Do you dare to disrespect a member of a royal family? The princess is the only one left that possessed the original royal blood in this Empire. You should show your respect, father. The rest of you, how dare you being rude to a noble consort. Kneel, now." I smiled. Well, at least she knows how to flaunt her status.
Grace has always been the vocal one among my concubines. But no one can even stand up to par with Virtra. If I hadn't stopped her when I should, this could be a bloodbath.
"What's the point of having royal blood but never even once copulation with the opposite gender? In her position, she should be thinking of a way to get an heir. Grace, as your father, I'm begging you. Leave this life, and I will find someone far better than her to be your husband. You will fulfil your wish to become a mother." This talk about 'normal' marriage life again. I'm beginning to think that I regret coming here.
Since we came here, this host hasn't even let us enter his home! We're tired, but all he cares about was how incapable of me to provide his daughter with an heir! Should I let Virtra handle this? As the 'princess' I can't use my power over them as I please. We're not in the capital anymore.
"We can continue this talk once we get some rest. As the host, you should let your guests in before spouting nonsense. Of course, we can always find some other villa to rent but how would you, an esteemed duke explain to the people that you let the princess of the Empire stayed outside of the duke's estate?" Among all of my concubines, I didn't expect Ravinia to speak up.
She usually stayed in the shadows and never spoke any word. Ravinia will only say something when she's not happy. And right now, I can see how annoyed she is.
"My sister is right. What do you say, father?" The duke scoffed.
"Since your other siblings and their family is also here, all of you have to share Grace's old bedroom." That wouldn't be a problem. I walked up the stairs and walked past the duke and her family while Grace leads us to her old bedroom.
"I regret coming here. I'm sorry, your majesty. My father shouldn't treat you that way. And sister Ravinia, please don't be annoyed. You can have all the rest you want once we get to my old bedroom." Grace apologised. When she turned the knob, she noticed something isn't right.
When she entered, she suddenly laughed at the state of the room.
"My bedroom! They took everything from my bedroom! They took away my jewellery, my paintings, even my best clothes. I left them here because I thought this day would come. It seemed like my decision to be your concubine was never in his original plan. But they sold me to the royal palace! They sold me!" I watched as Grace sat on the bed, being all sad.
I looked around the bedroom and noticed the state of her bedroom. Virtra sighed at sight.
"The empress can't live here. Hell, we can't live here. They're degrading us! Grace, is this how your family sees us? In the Empire, we are well respected while here, they looked down on us just because we refused to live by their preferences." I raised my hand at Virtra. She shouldn't blame Grace for this.
