~ The Next Day ~

Combing my hair down with my fingers in a nervous, self-conscious manner, I entered the hallway swarming with students who gave me second glances because of my newly transformed appearance.

I was still having difficulty getting used to the the fact that the bottom half of my hair was now intangible and nonexistent.

I actually like how it turned out, but I'm just extremely dreadful of what other might think of it.

"Hey!" a recognizable voice said behind me along with a tight grasp on my shoulder, making me flinch in response from the unforeseen physical contact.

My eyes met with the individual, which turned out to be Aeri, who was now goggling at me in apparent shock.

"Oh my god, I thought you were a new student or something." she said in astonishment, but soon pasted a flirtatious smirk on her face.

"A really hot one."

Giggling at her comment that instantaneously boosted my confidence, I asked for her sincere impression, "What do you think?"

Bringing her hand up to the side of my head, she tenderly ran her palm down my short hair and remarked, "Man if I was a guy, I'd fight Taehyung to make you mine. That's how good you look."

"Speaking of him, have you seen him around?" I questioned as I glanced around in search of my boyfriend's presence.

"Yeah, I just saw him at his locker. Just watch, he's gonna fall for you all over again once he sees you with your new hair." Aeri showered me with flattery once again, actually making me blush a little.

"Fingers crossed!" I smiled anxiously, then scurried away in the direction of where he's said to be.

As anticipated, I spotted Taehyung's superbly tall and built back figure diligently organizing the inside of his chaotic locker.

Fixing my hair for the hundredth time today, I approached him deliberately with my heart beating out of my chest.

"Tae." I called him by his nickname, my arms positioned behind my back to hide my intertwined fingers.

"Hey what's up-"

But right as my boyfriend laid his eyes on my remarkable change, the only thing his stiffened face could utter was a "Woah."

"I got a haircut yesterday..." I shyly said as I glued my gaze to the ground, a habit of mine whenever I felt diffident and insecure.

"Yeah... I see that..." Taehyung muttered and took a few steps closer to my body, consternation and complete surprise perceivable in his tone.

"D-Do you like it?" I gained my courage to ask and look up at him, the tip of my cheeks flaring like the inside of an oven.

Scrutinizing my hair one last time, he formed a dissatisfied frown and said something I never would've expected from my loving partner.

"I liked your long hair better."

A tremendous crack developing right down the center of my heart, I earnestly hoped he had a different implication.

"So... you're saying you think it looks bad?" I queried just to clarify, wishing he'd at least provide me with a comforting lie.

But for the second time in the span of two minutes, Taehyung shattered my heart yet again with his answer, entirely disintegrating it this time.

After a painful minute of displaying a poker face and not daring to break down in front of everyone, I quiveringly made a broken smile.

"You're right. I knew I wouldn't match this type of hair." I laughed it off, wondering what I even expected from him.

I mean, it wasn't like it was the first time he hurt my feelings like this.

But my heart was running out of bandaids.

"Well well well, look who's changing their hair to match my ideal now." I heard Jungkook boastfully say as he dragged his chair over to my seat and plopped down on it, despite the fact that the bell to release us had already rung.

"Oh shut up. I did this for myself, not for your arrogant ass." I scoffed evidently irritated and not in the mood, especially because he interrupted my trail of thought about what happened earlier this morning.

"Did you show your boyfriend yet?" he unfortunately brought up the last thing I wanted him to, his distressing question instantly turning my body into a silent, stock-still stone.

"What?" Jungkook figured something was up, bending forward in order to meet my lowered, averted eyes.

Sighing despondently, I confessed the utterly miserable truth to him, "H-He didn't like it..."

Although I couldn't dare to witness his facial reaction, I did see his large hands on his lap transform into two trembling, strongly clenched fists.

"Alright, that guy seriously needs to get his eyesight checked because he is fucking blind as hell." Jungkook stated angrily, probably attempting to make me feel a little better.

"Hana, look at me." he demanded, holding me by my face and giving me no option but to directly look at him.

Removing his palms from my cheeks, Jungkook instead moved his hand to the side and adoringly tucked in a strand of my hair behind my right ear.

"You look really, really pretty with your new hair Hana." he affirmed with his austere gaze locked onto mine, no jokes or deceit obscured.

His compliment warmed the inside of my whole chest, magically making all my dejection and self-doubt disappear from my thoughts.

I madly blushed, for his one little comment managed to brighten up my entire day that started off horribly.

"Thank you, Jungkook." I said in all genuineness, never expecting a guy like him to make such an impact on me.

But within that split second, I detected a shadow move at the entrance door of the empty classroom, vanishing before I could precisely identify who the person was.

Was that... Yerim?
